I came within a whisker of having one myself . As I was cycling in this morning, a taxi driver came out of a side road and had I not anticipated that she hadn't seen me and swerved, I wouldn't be typing this. I proceeded to give her a brisk earful, but she apologised very gracefully which shut me up rapidly.
Women shouldn't be allowed on the roads at all, let alone as a professional driver...

Had she not been so quick to apologise, I would have made these points myself.

I'm struggling to understand why she was off her lead. Some owners can be so irresponsible!

Peyote, a horrible thought has struck me. This isn't C+. By now we would have been denounced by outraged feminists and earnest academics (easily spotted by long and incomprehensible posts) but here in Bikeradar, we might find hundreds of eager supporters from the MTB section.

You're right, by now FM would have rushed-in on a wave of irrefutable logic and many of the usual subjects would (in between the main thrust of debate) be arguing statistics with an SS troll .... I miss the old days

Anyway, congrats to Messrs blacksun and Stevens for playing a good game.

    Cool!

I'm scared, but excited by these new possibilities!

An army of MTBers could be a useful addition to any prospective Megalomaniac...

Keep us supplied with pies, cake and fuel for the flamethrowers and I'm sure you'll have a loyal following.

How do we get you all together? If I post something on the government's plans to require MTBers to pass a test (with four 3 hour written papers :D ) and have comprehensive insurance, will that get their attention?

perish the thought, but it occurs to me, in all seriousness, that the elderly amongst us might benefit from exposure to those who ride bikes purely for the joy of it.

I'm not entirely past taking corners at ridiculous speeds to scare the living shit out of myself, but cycling has always been something that I care about - and caring can be quite debilitating (and if you want to know how debilitating, why not run for CTC Council  ). People who throw themselves off hills while sitting astride those ridiculous scaffold pole contraptions with (gasp) tread on their tyres do so for the thrill of it. Just that and nothing else. Which one of us over 50s can honestly claim to get in their monthly quota of thrills?

This could be the start of a great adventure. It's just a pity that the design and the technology is so utterly pants.

and as for 'shoot' - no, I didn't type that, but somebody at Future believes that the use of firearms is more respectable than defecation.

    .

I'm 58 and regularly throw myself off hills. With tread on my tyres.

OK not every month, but whenever I can

  • Didn't even know C+ forum was gone, ok if they wanted to do that with a new site why coudn't they just have renamed the main oage of the C+ forum and we could have kept our user names and sign offs.

Too late most of the old C+ crowd who made the forum what it was have left and show no sign of wanting to come back, trouble is they have taken a lot of knowledge and useful information with them. A real lost to any forum.

  • Sorry I've come late to this thread .................the new site/forum is a bit of a mess(I emailed C+ several weeks ago to tell them but didn't get a repsonse - what a suprise !)............did C+ consult with its target audience about switching to a new site ? Er nope...........................so like many previous C+ forumers I'm off to the the new cyclechat website..............this will be my last post (pardon the pun !) on this mess of a site. It's too big for it's own good, and I'm, afraid C+ are a little bit arrogant for thier own good too.

There's certainly nothing like the quality of discussion as on C+ - I expect difficulty of navigation and sheer size of the thing means we repeatedly see the same innane Q&A's. The whole board appears to be a 'beginners' section. The only reason I'm probably still here is the fact that I can't get Cyclechat at work - so have to stay here in sufferance. :? Two things that have annoyed me is that in the 'merger' I lost 5000 posts and somehow my e-mail address has now changed and I can't re-register with the old one. :x
