Of course you're being petty and nitpicking. You're doing it for the sake of the discussion..

No, I'm doing it for the sake of accuracy. You attributed a quote to me that was inaccurate and misleading. Would you be happy if I did the same to you?

You sure can try, if it makes you happy. Only, you're taking this to heart and it's just a big game to me ;)

Well, you shouldn't be happy because I would be distorting your views and misrepresenting them to others. Would you think I was being honest if I did that?

I'll be honest with you. This is forum on the internet, I really couldn't give a damn what you did as this doesn't reflect real life to me.

Well you're posting anonymously. I'm not. Now, be honest (you've just said that you're going to be) do you think that attributing false quotes to me is acceptable behaviour?

I was being honest. If you did or didn't attribute false quotes, I really wouldn't care and if felt your behaviour was unacceptable, then that's down to you.

Like I said, this is only the internet and it has no bearing on my real life.

You haven't answered the question. You attributed a false quote to me. Do you now accept that you were wrong to do that?

I was just separating the text from what you 'implied' from the rest of my sentence.

The above quote was taken from one of my earlier posts (I assumed you'd read it, guess I was wrong)

And no, I did nothing wrong. Please re-read the last couple of pages before you reply further.

    I'll only be a minute

I have been watching this thread in total amazment.

to EX C+ people, remember the weekend when we would have Safespeed trolls taking people screen name.
This Patrick Stephens doesn't seem to be the one who used to post over on C+, just a troll trying to incite a flame war to drive in the wedge.

A sesquipidalian diatribe closely matches the posting style , but would the other p stephens really come back without one liners and put downs with smilies.?

    But I could be mistaken.

    Ok sorry to interrupt

No, not angry - just having a bit of a tease. :D It's somewhat liberating here, not being known, until Jibi blew my cover. Not being burdened with a C+ post count has its advantages.

as a social study, its quite interesting to watch two groups 'try' to merge with each other. Of course they will never be able to, but its fascinating to watch. there are too many clashes for it to ever work, i wonder if any of the staff at Future ever considered this when they put the suggestion about that they should merge the fora?
Actually the whole point was to merge everything into one single forum, resulting in a gigantic flame war. The heat generated was going to be converted back into energy and used to power Future's servers for the next three weeks while the Tour de France is on. Then we were going to close BR and go back to the old forums.

Well that was my idea, but it got shouted down.

As an aside, while the forums are being tweaked, has anyone checked out the rest of the site? There's still a lot to do there to make it work how we want, but surely people are finding it more useful than the previous four sites(?) Feedback is welcomed on it as well.

You know, I bet someone could. I seem to recall there were quite a few IT chaps over at C+.

Good to see a sense of humour - Could I claim for cloths - Mopping of keyboard/monitor.
I have had a bit of a look around, and I must say that I`m quite impressed with whats on offer (and more to come I believe?). I think that one of the problems is that most of us arrived here expecting a forum as that`s what we had before (C+er here) and were met with what seemed to be a pile of ... er ... rubbish. At C+ the forum was the main attraction (the mag/home page thing was mediocre and I`m being polite there) so in all the heat the other areas were missed by many of us. I`m sorry if you feel that you have been `busting a gut` to no avail, but it seems to me that what Future thought that we should have/like, and what we thought we were getting were two different things (I am not going to say yet again "This site has great potential" ... Buggrit! ...

No complaints about the website - apart from inadvertently getting the TdF stage result before I'd seen the highlights on TV...

Joking apart, the website looks good... I've stopped buying cycling mags for various reasons, so having an online resource for technical info, kit reviews and maybe even fitness advice  is handy.

I generally do it in the background while on the phone waiting for the other person to find a file or be removed from a lavatory.

Very few of the arguments are intellectually demanding.

I came within a whisker of having one myself . As I was cycling in this morning, a taxi driver came out of a side road and had I not anticipated that she hadn't seen me and swerved, I wouldn't be typing this. I proceeded to give her a brisk earful, but she apologised very gracefully which shut me up rapidly.
