Probably a little late in the day to latch onto this thread, but hey, I'm known for sticking my tuppenceworth in wherever so....

Why be so ignorant as to think that C+ is the be all and end all of cycling? There are other forums that have been merged against the wishes of many and their reservations were voiced, answered and seemingly ignored too.

As for the "I have no interest in MTB" comments..... ignore the MTB forums then. Some MTBers aren't interested in road riding, but we aren't complaining about the roadie content, just the vast number of forums. Hopefully things will improve, but at the moment the forum part of the site is a shambles and does not work for BIKE RIDERS, not just road riders

    To true.
It just seems C+ think they are better than everyone else, therefore they should get exactly what they want, if they don't they throw their toys out the pram.
I don't have a blind bit of interest in road riding, as do many other members but how many topics/posts have you seen slating road riding? They'll be a few, but I bet its a fraction of those moaning about MTB.

All in all it just seems C+ think they are better than everyone else, well you are not. You're just the same as all the other forum members.

I don`t think that all C+ers have been knocking other forms of cycling/cyclists, we aren`t all roadies/racers from over there. I for one don`t have any interest in either off-road or road racing stuff (though I have been known to watch others `strutting their stuff`). I couldn`t care less in what order the sections come in on here as long as I don`t have to bugger about too much to see what I am interested in. I do have sympathy for the poor sods (well most of them) who have the task of getting reasonable results from a forum set up that patently was nowhere near ready for use, and that seems to me to be typical of Future F**k You All Inc. (I`m not thinking of mag editors and staff here). I can`t say I`m totally surprised at some amount of crossfire as I see (on a fairly regular basis) comments/queries along the lines of - Why don`t fully kitted roadies give me the `nod` when I`m on my atb/tourer (and the same question the other way round). There`s no chance that we will ever all agree on all things, but surely we can argue without getting too personal about it all.

I'm not getting personal, just pointing out that there are numerous posts on this thread from former C+ members saying that C+ members are being treated like scum. We are all in the same boat, whether we are from WMB, MBUK, C+ or whatever else has been incorporated. It seems that very few people like the new forum, but it's only SOME of the C+ members that are seperating themselves

the 123 (and counting) former WMBers now chatting in Mountain-biking UK aren't separating themselves then? :D:D

guilliano, I wasn`t replying to you or anyone in particular really. It was the post from Glyn that put the thoughts in my mind I think (and I wasn`t intending to `have a go` at him either). How about if we all (those of us left  ) chill out a bit :) .

I went on C+ a few times and didnt post as I found it cliquey and a bit of a closed shop.

That is why I liked the procycling forum. This is a good compromise and I think it will thrive if people give it a chance. But I am getting bored of saying that :?

Hambones, we have chosen another forum to keep the spirit of the forum we used to have. As far as I know nobody has started a thread saying "WMB members treated badly", we have all just agreed that the new forum is pants and left without trying to sound like we're the only ones that matter

Yep, we know we have to improve the organisation. I have moved most threads like this one to the BR Office. In fact, it's probably time to move this one too!

Into the bin I bet.

I've stuck out all sorts of changes to this forum over the years.

But, can someone tell me who on earth is 'Nick Louse' and how someone who is apparently (at least to judge by his posts) a semi-literate, foul-mothed teenager got to be a moderator of this forum? To put it mildly, the instructional posts and replies from this individual do not exactly seem to have been taken from the pages of 'How to Make Friends and Influence People' and he does a rather good job of breaking his own rules everytime he posts...

Haha, and you base all this information on one or two posts over the internet? Nick's 39 and became a moderator by having an amazing knowledge of bike maintenance. Don't get all high and mighty and throw your toys out the pram.

Dude, did you trace that, from a distance off a diagram drawn by a blind man using his feet from the description given to him by someone that could only use English quotes from the movie of \'Grease\'?

As this is an internet forum most of us don`t know most of the posters here except via their posts. and some (quite a lot from what I have seen in the short time that BR has been open) of the posts made by `Nick Louse` have been rather rude and he does appear to have an `attitude`. If he has reached the age of 39 without the social grace to be reasonably polite - he`s possibly not the best mod material (only my opinion mind).
The skills and expertise required to be a good mechanic are not quite the same as the ones required to be a competent mod (possibly neutrality, impartiality, even temperament, self control etc. We are at the moment having a discussion, expressing an opinion whatever - I don`t see anyone `throwing toys out of any prams`.

Sarcastic? That was an attempt at humour. Sorry if it fell flat, it's late here in Sydney and it's been a long few days..

As a matter of interest why is this site being developed in Sydney?

And when are you going to get the quotes facility working? I presume it is not supposed to look like this?
  • The site's not being developed in Sydney, that's just where I happen to be.

Quotes (and BBcode) will be back, as we keep saying.

    Absolutely extraordinary.

What is the core business and what feeds that core business?

Once you know that, and you understand it, then mess with it.

If you dare to cross him, you will feel his wrath.

Several of us from MBUK drove form one end of the country (daan sarf) up to delamere just to be able to ride with him and meet him. ( The fact that home made cake was in abundance that day is beside the point  )

He is also EXTEREMELY knowledgeable about cars/ older cars too.

My advice to everyone would be to move on and find a forum that you like, and then just stop visiting this site. Future may not be interested in what we want, but they may take some notice when ad revenue drops due no one using the site.
