Can we just arrange a mass roady versus MTBer brawl..
Oh wait, Future did that, only on the Internets.0 -
Not true.
They supplied a venue where all could cross post and be friendly. A small minority are causing the kefuffle. I ride both mtb and roady. MTB 29er for commuting SS as well- nothing to go wrong, I enjoy hitting the trails on a hardtail and a full sus MTB and I have a roady that I enjoy going out on for a couple of hours in the evenings. Everyone on here is a cyclist, they woluld do well to remember that fact.0 -
Just to say Hi ! but sadly, Bye, to everyone from CP.
Nothing is forever, and the best die young.

Who on earth let a semi-literate monkey act as moderator ?0 -
I'm sorry, but thats for me anyway whats wrong here. Its too easy to jump on the bandwagon and attack someone you dont know. Its not helping matters. I've spoken (tyed to?) Nick over on the old WMB forum, I dont know him and prob. won't everget to meet him, but he seemd a straight up kinda guy...... Everyone needs to take a BIG CHILL PILL and calm down for a bit and let things progress...0

Why did they have to change this anyway? :idea:0

Here you go Hairy1, some free commas,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,.
No need to thank me.
Nicklouse may be a demigod over at MBUK but he means nothing to anyone from somewhere else, why should he? The outraged grumping because people from C+ haven't knelt down and kissed the hem of his baggies just shows the mistake Future made crashing two completely different cultures together. Many of the people who have commented on his manner are senior, well respected, articulate posters not given to lashing out at the drop of a armoured shin guard. Says quite a lot really.0 -

Unllike your charming reworking of the logo.
EDIT - A logo which has now now vanished from your sig. Good.

spot the joker in the house...
I love the way you are all trying to seperate yourselfs from other bikers, because obviously you are better and of higher ranking.. and suggesting you are friendly people? HA! in all my times riding on the road i have met one person on another road bike who has returned my greeting.. grumpy, lonely sods the lot of you.
anyway...I dont want to argue any point to hard or you might have a heart attack or something..
im sure the people from the home will be giving you your sponge bath any time soon, dont worry...0 -

Yep, we know we have to improve the organisation. I have moved most threads like this one to the BR Office. In fact, it's probably time to move this one too!
John,
I'm quite sure that you'll manage to tidy it up. However, in the meantime you've lost a lot of regular posters (I was up to over 13,000 on C+) and much of what remains of the forum is prey to trolling by some rather juvenile MTBers. The main problem you face is restoring order and control to the forum.0 -
Patrick, you'll get your posts back soon.0

M.Cole wrote:Patrick, you'll get your posts back soon.
Thanks for that, but it isn't really the point. In any event, having seen some of the vitriol displayed by MTBers towards roadies, I wonder if it would just incite them to have a go at me. The cringemaking post about roadies blowing goats reminded me of some of the loony motorists who used to troll.0 -

I saw that and I thought how very sad.Was worth all the contempt I could give it so I didn't reply as obviously thats what the original poster wanted.
At the time I didn't know how to flag as im still finding my way round this type of forum.
Didn't even think of flagging it either but next time I will.0 -

Louis, I don't think it was malicious - he was just trying to start some banter - should have been in Cake Stop, not Soapbox. Tho admittedly it was well below the standard of banter we used to see there. I decided to try to be friendly by joining in but it was a bit of a damp squib. I fear Cake Stop has been mortally wounded. The regulars have gone to cyclechat and seem to have settled in.<hr>

No, I decided that I didn't really want to be involved. Quite frankly, I was surprised at the level of vituperation from fellow cyclists. I've got an MTB and do some mountain biking. My youngest son is an MTBer and sometimes uses his road bike. While there is obviously the odd joke, everyone I know regards themselves primarily as cyclists. I was therefore a bit horrified at the attitudes shown. They were remniscent of the flame wars between some of the loopy cyclists and nutty motorists.0 -
Aunty Rubbish wrote:Spot on Patrick. There seem to be a lot of people from MBUK (-C- above for example) who seem to view everything through anti-roadie tinted glasses (or possible DH goggles). Your post is littered with assumptions, most of which are wildly innacurate, and quite franky, laughable. Did you have your book of stereotypes out when you wrote this one?
I've seen substantially more contempt being sent the other way towards the MTB sections, and by your own admissions, you're meant to be the grown ups!
If you don't like being a target, don't go fishing for an arguement.0 -
It's gall btw. I don't have Asterix in my cupboard.
EDIT as -C- has removed his 'You've got some gaul' comment this won't make any sense. But I'm leaving it in anyway.
No, no assumptions on my part, just the evidence of my eyes from having read numerous posts like yours and St.D1ckies (listed above somewhere).
As for being a target, well I've seen any number of flames coming from MBUK posters having a pop at people from C+ who don't like what's been done and have said so. I'm sorry if you think voicing criticism makes us targets and constitutes fishing for arguments. I think it's fair to say that no-one from C+, incuding me, has been attacking MTBers, MTBing or MBUK en masse. Any critical comments have been specifically directed at a minority who seem to confuse rancid abuse for wit.0 -

Judging by posts I've read from yourself and other C+'ers I'd say you actually DID have something against MTB'ers.
It's not our fault that Future decided to move your perfect little world and clash it with ours.
For my part I've tried up until now to be nothing but polite and friendly to everyone so far but as far as I am aware you have made no personal effort to get on with anyone who wasn't from C+.
You've been abrupt and downright rude to the majority of people from MBUK, which is surprising considering that is what you are disparaging them for doing.
It's no wonder there is such a clash of personalities on here when people like you think you are so much better than everyone else and put yourselves up on your pedestals.
The behaviour you are displaying is only creating a bigger rift between Road and MTB and if I'm totally honest, you should be ashamed of yourself.a dirtbag of the most delightful variety0 -
I would love to see some of the numerous posts I have made through my "anti roadie rose tinted glasses" & some of these FHM esque moronic ramblings.
As I said before, there has been way more coming our way than dished out, but let me guess, friendly banter between friends right? Of course.

One of the complaints in the MTB section is that some of them have had their ability to send personal messages curtailed. There is a rumour going round that this was because some of the MTBers were using this facility to organise flame wars against roadies. Is there any truth in this?0 -

I don't know if there is truth in what you have said or not, I'm sure -C- doesn't either because as far as I'm aware he isn't really that involved in what goes on within the MBUK circle.
If there is then really those people are just as bad but what you all have to realise is that you are tarring us all with the same brush. We aren't all like that as I'm sure you're not all like the C+'ers causing the trouble?a dirtbag of the most delightful variety0 -

I wouldn't know, i've only received one PM since i've joined this site.
Aunty Rubbish - maybe not made specifically by you, but other members of your section. Doesn't take too long to find them really. Maybe take off the rose tints & you might have better luck.
I realise that including you is a bit of a sweeping generalisation, but seeing as you were so good to include me in one, that it only be fair to return the favour
PS, still waiting for some of those examples....0 -

I personally find that insulting and yes, rude. You've been abrupt and downright rude to the majority of people from MBUK, which is surprising considering that is what you are disparaging them for doing.
I aslo recall sharing friendly words with you, that was nice, I even sang you the Wurzels song. I've just noticed since that moment on a couple of occasions that you've been rude towards MTB'ers. I'm not condoling Mikes behaviour, he should know better, but if you are as mature as you profess to be (and at first appeared to be) then don't rise to it? It's that simple surely?a dirtbag of the most delightful variety0 -

Here you go -C-. When I've got a spare minute or two I'll go and have a look for more. I would start with the Roadies Blow Goats thread in Soapbox but it would be too obvious wouldn't it?St.D1ckie wrote:I love the way you are all trying to seperate yourselfs from other bikers, because obviously you are better and of higher ranking.. and suggesting you are friendly people?
