    Hey SparkyP

Good to hear from you, come out and give it a go, we've got riders of all levels. We start at the Korean War Memorial between Linlithgow and Bathgate at 8.30 every Saturday.

    See you Saturday.

I'm only going out for about and hour, I've got to be elsewhere by 10.00

    Cheers

    OS 65

PS Top work Fathead, great (the result not the crash!)

hi friends, i woke up this morning with a knee and hip that feels like mrs mike tyson has been chewing on it all night.....at this rate it looks as though i may have to take a few days off the bike altogether but i will confirm my (non)attendence later on

mark, good to hear your intentions to come joing us...as bill says saturday runs are as fast as the slowest rider so don't worry about strength....just come along armed with a decent one liner or two and you'll be fine :D

hi greenmac, if you can make it out on saturdays then you could come along to the KWM at 0830 for a group ride....

i hope some of you got out today as the weather was a lot better than it has been recently! since i am working this weekend i took friday off and went up to crieff for a much needed hilly leg buster....did crieff, amulree, glen quaich, kenmore, loch tay north, ben lawyers, glen lyon, kenmore, glen quaich, amulree crieff...this was much needed prep for the fred whitton, 80 miles on a lowest gear 39x27 nearly wiped me out....i was cramping badly after only 40-50 miles thanks to the glen quaich ben lawyers double whammy...thanks to the headwind the glen quaich climb heading north was as hard as i can ever remember, but the views to the snow covered peaks to the north was just reward....the weather closed in heading over the lawyers and while the road was mostly clear there was still a lot of snow off the road.....how i managed to get back up the climb from kenmore on the way back without putting a foot down is beyond me....after cramping midway through all i could think about during the ride was how tough this climb was going to be on 39x27 but thanks to a well placed sandwich and coffee at the kenmore hotel i got a second wind and paced myself up the climb very slowly and sensibly to make it with a bit to spare.....a lovely ride and only an hours drive away!

    Hi Greenmac.

I was out today for only my second outing.
Was out with OS65 and another new rider Malcolm. We met at the KWM in the Bathgate hills and headed out through Torphicen,Avonbrige, towards Slammanan then back to Linlithgow.I then went from Linlithgow to Bathgate, via Torphicen.Weather was a breeze compared to last week!!!!! The average speed was around 15mph.
As some previous post say,the pace is that of the slowest member of the group.

    Regards

Hi Greenmac, welcome to the WLR.

We usually do between 25 to 50 miles depends on who wants to do what but at anytime people drop out of the group to go home so no pressure in completing the whole distance. At the moment Saturday's are easy paced and are more social than training runs which will start in the evenings once the clocks change. We have not decided on a night yet but that will be posted once the decision has been made.

Fee free to join us at anytime, no pressure.

    Rgds, Bill

    HI

As Mark mentioned, I enjoyed my first West Lothian Clarion experience on Saturday. It's about an hour from my house to the to the KWM so my attendance could be sporadic at best and I can't see myself soloing through the p*shing rain to get there.

They're a friendly bunch and as mentioned above, and the pace is pretty much what you want it to be.

I look forward to getting out again soon.

malcom and sparky, great to see you managed to get along to the kwm....for one reason or another a few of us have been unable to make it there in recent weeks but with the onset of better weather etc there should be a few more riders getting along

malcom, i live in whitburn and currently meet epo-aholic at the east whitburn lights and ride up to the kwm together.....where do you live as you could meet us and do the half hour ride up to the kwm together next time you come out with us...we meet at 0805 and arrive at the kwm bang on 0830 or 0825 if you decide to follow eop's crazy pace up the bathgate sports centre climb!

i bunked off work early today and got out for an hour and a bit to loosen off sore legs....headed from whitburn, harthill, heights, avonbridge, westfield, torphican (bumping into bill on the way past his mountain retreat), then over the cairnpapple humps, bathgate and home....

i believe foz and os65 were doing the dalmenny audax today, how did it go? have you finished yet???

    Hi All

I also got out this afternoon for a bit of "Mother in law avoidance"on my New bike.
Got out for aprox 28 miles from Livingston to Kirknewton, A70,Tarbrax,Woolfords,Harburn then home. Some of these minor roads in South Lanarkshire are the worst i have come across.
Legs are a bit stiff tonight so a rest tomorrow!!

    >have you finished yet??? Laughing

Oh aye, I'm finished all right

Was good. I rode round with a mate (Sean) through from Glasgow and it was good to see Matt though he was off the front most of the time!

Was a game of three thirds for us - an easy opening twenty (flat), a dogged middle thirty (right into a northeasterly) and a tired run in with a merciful following wind - some very fast sections but we were both wincing a bit on any counter-climbs.

Pretty tired but it was my longest ride of 2008 by a good 20 miles so that's allowed, and I really enjoyed it. My thanks to the organisers if they ever read this.

WLC devotees might want to know that there is an Audax in September, also starting in Dalmeny, that crisscrosses the Ochil roads for 100miles. I'm working overseas then, which is a shame as I would really fancy it. A date for other's diaries?

Good effort on your Perthshire run....

    Hey there

Good to se you today Foz, what a ride eh!

Dalmeney audax was great. Met a load of new bikies and the camaraderie was excellent, with a few who are interested in coming out on the saturday.

I'm exhausted after today's ride. I was on the front a fair bit. rode with the main group to the halfway point lunch stop and then three of us returned through and off back to Dalmeney. The highlight for me was the fantastic feast laid on by the organiser, with the choice of 3 soups, sandwiches and homemade cakes! lovely

I rode 90 miles in total with 8 guys who rode there and back from Linlithgow.

Its a must do event for next year...

I'm at the easter Meet next week, taking part in a hilly timetrail and sportif so I wont be out at the KWM.

    cheer

    Hello West Lothian Clarion!

Dalmeny audax was great, really enjoyed it, a lot less miserable audax buggers this year and a lot more friendly faces! The spread at the end was 1st class too.

Great to meet you guys - even if you did kick my a*rse up all the climbs - must be all that training over Beecraigs!

If you ever find yourselves in Edinburgh on a Sunday morning at 8.30 you are more than welcome to join Team Affluent at the Usher Hall clock for a wee 60 miler in the Lothians. No rules, survival of the fittest and all that, but we do make sure no one gets abandoned anywhere!

    Cheers guys

Thanks for the offer - I came across from Ratho so it would probably add even more time to rendez-vous in Whitburn. Looks like I'll just have to do the hard miles.
