I'm away down south so can't make it. The ride has been popular with new riders so it would be good if a regular can get to the Bridge Inn...
Have a good ride and FatHead hope you do well in the race tonight
OS 650 -
Sorry gents but a last minute change of plan means i shall be unable to make it tonight.

Went up last night on the off chance that a couple of the troops would be out, was very windy as per usual, but then took in a wee route around Phillipstoun-South Queensferry and home, weather was glorious on way back. Will miss the KWM ride tomozzz as my daughter is over for her birthday weekend...catch up soon.JMC0

Three people out on saturday for a run out to Limerigg,Harthill,Blackridge and back through Westfield. There were three Hotly contested sprint for the 30's and three wins for me !!!! (I caught Matt and Tobias unawares!!)Weather was mild with no wind(which makes a change)

Got back from Puerto Pollensa on Saturday, out every day whilst there, brilliant roads and mega weather, cycling heaven.
Myself and Stevie had a go at the cycling plus route on Monday morning which takes in Kingscavil etc and it was an excellent 30 mile ride with 1000m climbing. Maybe we could give it a go some Saturday.
Stevie and I are going to do 2 laps next Saturday morning in prep for the Etape if you want to join us you are welcome.
I have a bit of a head cold so won't make the Pedal power run tonight but will be going out round the Bathgate alps to get some miles in.

Got out yesterday for a 30 mile run on the quality surfaces :x of South Lanarkshire.
Picked up my rebuilt rear wheel today from Craig Hardie @ Hardie Bikes, and went out for the same run on my good bike tonight-What a difference.
Passed a few riders going to the Pedal Power run(I was going in the opposite direction)
Should be OK for thursday if anyone else is out??

I was out on the Pedal Power run with FatHead but didn't see you Sparky, had my head down. Its a really exciting ride over a demanding course. Something to aim for with our Thursday night ride.
I won't be able to make it this week - I'm working away again. be good if a few of you go down as its popular with new riders
Cheers
OS650 -
os65 turned up at the pedal power run, left in the second group, and finished second overall! a quality run again at over 20mph average speed and roubaix style roads
not likely to be out thursday as my wife is working0 -
Was going to head up to Maddison tonight if anyone is going out. Did my first time trial of the year last night in 27:50, the best time was around 23.05 or something, was a bit crook a few miles from home and was bringing up some bile...luvvvley!!! note to self do not eat a large bowl of pasta and quiche an hour before going next time and possibly refrain from wearing my dayglo pink and blue Lampre skinsuit!!!!. Have also been doing a two bridges route from Kincardine to Forth Road bridge, not that mant climbs but an interesting route. Should make Saturday as well. All the best to FH and the Fred Whitton Challenge, may the force be with your legs. Catch up soon troops JMC0

Did the Drumlanrig sportive last week under the name of the WLC and I saw on the results page another member Stephen Mcdowall had entered under the same banner. So at least the name is getting about. I will need to get out with you guts for runs but I have been doing bigger runs lately when not working weekends for training for sportives.
I am off to do the Fred Whitton this weekend and hope to see Fathead there. We should look to be doing maybe one sportive this year that we should all do as a club and have a good day out.Brian B.0 -
Rode my old club 10 down in Lancaster last Thursday night - 25.35 without tri-bars. I was happy with that, kept my pulse where it should be and it didn't feel too painful either after the tough Pedal Power ride on Tuesday. Still I'm 3 minutes behind my best time on that course!
It was a really good atmosphere at the TT, signing on and after waiting for the times to come in. It would be great if WLC could get a weekly 10 going for next year - a great point of focus for everyone in the club - a season long competition too.
Saw Tobias on Saturday and he said only 2 were out for the club ride but it sounded like they had a good run, the nutters went up Kingscavil twice!
I'm down in Preston until Wednesday but will be back to ride the training run on Thursday. See you at 6.30, Bridge Inn Linlithgow Bridge. Lets see if we can get more than 2 out for that ride.
Hope FatHead andBrian had a good Fred Whitton
Cheers

WLC also get a minor namecheck here @ position 329  http://www.sportident.co.uk/results/200 ... g2008.html
Got round, enjoyed it & my hamstrings are still talking to me so I'm thinking of going back next year. Good luck to any of you doing the etape next week.0 -
Cycled over to Linlithgow on thursday and arrived just after 6.30.Never found anyone else on the training route,so did 2.5 laps ad cycled home.(40 miles)Shame no one was out !!
Got out on Saturday with Tobias on a very misty morning.Route was Linlithgow,Kingscavil,Faucheldean,Kirkliston,Dalmeny,South Queensferry,Hopetoun House,Kingscavil (AGAIN) Beecraigs and back to the KWM.Weather was dry and i am glad we were not out in the thunder storms in the afternoon
Good TT OS65 and Bealach Beag FOZ72.Hope the Fred weather was good for all who participated.
OS65,did you have a stall at Linlithgow on saturday?? How did you get on?
I am in Newbury this week, but should be OK for Thursday. Can we get an idea of who will be out...
Mark0 -
Hi Mark,
Myself and Stevie were out on Sat at 9am due to work commitments. We done 56 miles round the Bathgate hills, surprised we did not see you !! We are doing the etape this weekend so won't be going out due to resting the legs but will do an easy 30 miler on Tuesday.
Well done to the West Lothian warriors who completed the FWC, sounded like an epic battle for all, especially Brian who crashed and still finished, medal due there mate.
Great time OS65 for your 10 we will have to get ours organised soon.
See you all next Thursday 22nd at Linlithgow Bridge.

I was planning to try out the training night tomorrow but last night I tried to fix a stuck seat post. Long story but I now have a right bourach in the garage and an unrideable bike..... Maybe just as well, my legs are still feeling the effects of the Bealach....
Allez Bill et Stevie on Sunday!0 -
Can't make it to the training ride, going to a funeral in Manchester.
Have a good ride, and good luck to the Etape riders. Tobias told me he'll be at the Bridge Inn, so Sparky you should have at least one training partner!
OS 650 -
Hi, my wife is working tomorrow night and the mother in law is on Millport so no babysitter available for tomorrow night so unlikely to be there, sorry0
-
OS65, every time I see the West Lothian Clarion in the results of a Sportive, it reminds me that I really must send back that membersahip form - it will be with you soon.
Great to see Bill and Stevie today at the Etape C riding (past me - twice) in thier usual formation (they even take a slash at the same time).================================

Hi Malcolm,
You were flying on Sunday, admire you on a flat bar bike for that distance. Myself and Stevie managed to work together and with groups up until 65 miles where Stevie started to suffer. Up until then it looked like we were going to break the 4 hour mark. I towed him home and on the way we managed to grab a passing group at about 75 miles and Stevie hung in there until the finish.
It was a brilliant day and we eventually finished in 4hrs 7mins, roll on next year for a full flying Clarion chain gang for a sub 4 hour time !!!!
Rgds, Bill0 -
Good times you and Stevie got their Bill. How was the R3 on its first sportive?Brian B.0
-
Hi Brian,
Absolutely awesome over this distance, what a fantastic wee bike.
Are you up for a ride this Saturday?
Rgds, Bill0 -
If my better half lets me go I am going to do a 100 mile plus loop somewhere to keep my legs used to the long distances that I have done over the last few weekends. I have the Mega Challenge coming soonand its a crazy 142 miles of hill climbing.
Might be able to make next weekend though.Brian B.0 -
Hi Brian,
The Dave Lloyd is a mega challenge ok, that will be torture mate. The following weekend myself and Stevie are doing the Skye sportive so we may need to leave it till later.
We are hoping to do 2 laps of the West Lothian loop that appeared in the Cycling mag so 60odd miles and all local with plenty climbing if your up for staying local?
Speak soon,
Bill0 -

Just back from the pedal power training ride with Stevie and Sadiq what a hard session it was tonight. Stevie and Sadiq were on top form but my Etape legs kicked in with about 5 to go and got dropped from the group. Hard work all the way back on my own but still managed a 20mph average.
Are you going to the Skye sportive as well Malcolm?
Rgds, Bill0 -
Well done to everyone in the recent sportives, the fred was a great event and made me want to make more of an effort to do some more sportives this year but all the toughies are full aleady! There are a couple over the next few months I am taking an interest in, there's the 'pain in the penines' which won't entail that long a drive....
Myself, Bill and Stevie were at the fast and furious Pedal Power run this evening and got the usual good workout, I had my fastest ride yet with an average of over 21mph for the course. Bill and Stevie did a good ride and persevered over the climbs in the final third, with Stevie finishing with me about 30secs or so behind the scratch group, the fastest and last group to leave.
If I get home from work in time this Thursday I'll see you at the Bridge Inn this Thursday.0 -
