Free Bronze membership to British Cycling for WLC members (if you've not been a member of British Cycling before).

Gets you the Provisional Race licence needed for anyone wanting to try racing for the first time this year plus discounts at certain places, etc.

Only takes 2 minutes to fill out online.

I've done mine. Anyone else up for some racing this year? See if we can't stay one step ahead of the Broomwagon at these events :!:

I am keen, Grant, very keen.

But unfortunately, I am also fat and unfit.

But I've promised myself to get fit in time for the TT season, so should be ok for racing, too.

If not, I'll put my bikes on ebay.

Happy New Year Tobias. Did you overdo the Stollen during the hols then?

Don't worry, there are plenty of training weeks ahead of us!
  • You can borrow it, Matt.
We talk about buying if, in May, I can't do TT's because there isn't enough clearance between my knees and chest.

No stollen, Grant. But plenty of good, nourishing German beer. Same effect, though.

I'll be out again after Sunday (oh dear, I think I still have those knobblies on my Jamis. Says it all, really).

Is anyone interested in doing the above as the run this Sunday?

    If so please post here.

If not I will head out directly from Cumbernauld to Kincardine and do the loop on my tod as I would like to have a look at the course for this event.

Can't make it out on Saturday unfortunately.

    Cheers, Grant

  • Grant,

    Have you seen this?

Should be a little windier up by Knockhill though.

    Chapeau if you go, mind.

  • And don't forget to stop at the Powmill milk bar for a half-way snack :D

Powmill milk bar made the headlines recently for their high energy, high protein snacks , hills would be no problem after that.

Hi Malcolm, yeah I'd seen the forecast isn't too great - it was very windy the last time I was up there as well - at least there won't be any ice :)

As for the Powmill Milk Bar - thankfully I never sampled any of it's delights before it got shut down!

    Bill

Is that for 9 or around 9

I am planning to be out as I have not been on the bike since Boxing Day.

    Mark.
  • Bill - I'm definitely a maybe for tomorrow. One day I'll go on a club run and meet people.

    won't be out tomorrow

btw, anyone got a Shimano 10 speed RIGHT HAND sti shifter for sale???
  • I'll try to get up to the kwm for 9 but if I feel slow when I get there I may just drift off on my own.
I got the new turbo set up last night and had a spin today. I quite enjoyed it actually but I did feel it. I'll need to look at setting some goals objectives and getting a bit of a training plan together.
First off is to remove the half stone of beer and pretzels from xmas and new year. time allowed - end of month. weight 102kg target 98kg
  • Have drifted from a maybe to a no-show. Mrs wakemalcolm's decided she quite fancies the spin class and looking at the wind direction and the sunrise times, I've got a better chance of making that for 10 than I have of getting to KWM for 9.

Have a secret training camp in Tenerife the week after, so will look to catch up with you guys at the end of the month.

    Cheers!

I know how you feel mate.

I got 'caught' last minute for a saturday nightshift so did not even try getting up this morning, or I would have been a sleepy heid at work tonight. Bugger is that it also scuppers tomorrow morning. Still there is always next weekend unless I get caught for that as well.

Headed over from Livingston in a westerley Breeze this morning

Nine of us (Andy,Bill,Stevie,Andy,Peter,Jonathan,Jim,Myself and new recruit? Steve)set off towards Torphichen, but a Mile later Stevie had a handlebar problem and slid down the road, literally!!(Hope all is OK Stevie?)
The remaining eight headed west over the usual roads(Slammannan included) and then back to the KWM.I then went up the Alps and headed home via Dechmont,Pumpherston and Mid Calder.
50 miles for me in very windy conditions, although the rain held off.My legs tonight feel like they have done 100 miles today....

    Mark.
  • I managed to go through Slamannan yesterday as well but by the time I got there the rain was stinging my face, hey ho! got up today raring to go saw the weather and thought - Trainer. 15 minuits later my bottom bracket collapsed ARRGGH....... :x

on the bright side at least I'm not pushing the bike home in the rain.
