I think I'm working away next week so I guess the only time I've got to practice is tomorrow!
os 650 -
Oh dear I think we are in trouble as fathead is away all this week too.
Maybe we should postpone and try another one later in the year ????
Bill0 -
er
I've already entered 'cos there was an entry deadline, so we'll have to just go for it!
Are you able to ride tomorrow? give me a call to discuss, I might be able to do something on sunday instead after my TT
I knew fathead was away but if you stevie and me can have a go for about 3/4 to 1 hour at least 3/4 of us will be a little more prepared, Fathead is has experience going through and off in a group so my thinking was he could just slot in!
OS650 -
Looks like the weekend's good weather is going to be from about 7-10 tomorrow morning. OS65, if you're coming out (to ride) could you bring the clarion card with you and I'll try to remember my sweep fiver.
Cheers!================================

Hi Mark
I've signed up for the ToT as well. I am planning to do the 70 mile ride.
I will be struggling though - not enough miles since my holiday.
See you Saturday,
Tobias0 -
Hi El
Four of us are doing the Scottish TTT champs on saturday so we won't be out at the Korean War Memorial. I got an email off John who came out last week to say he was riding tomorrow so it would be great if you could get out to the start
cheers
OS 650 -
Hi Guys...
No need to join me tomorrow if weather/olympics/a lie in grabs your fancy...I'm quite happy to go solo tomorrow but I'll start from KWM at 8.00 if anyone is coming out.
Good luck with the TT guys! In the words of pocket rocket Emma Pooley just don't breathe for an hour...

Unfortunately i shall not be out tomorrow as my wife is working.
Hope the TTT is fun

Welcome to the forum cyclesgoff, The TTT was tough, here is a mini report!
On Saturday Fathead, Bill, OS 65 and Stevie rode the 60KM TTT champs at Forfar.
The riders had a shaky start, missing their start time by a minute, but after few miles got into a good rhythm with OS 65 and Fathead taking longer spells on the front.
Fathead said "I was cramping up on the second lap and by the end I had given my all, afterwards my arse was killing me!". Stevie said he couldn't have gone any harder "It was much more intense than the sportives I've done"
Although they came last! in a time of 1.42.28 the team had great spirit and it was a fine accomplishment just to finish, especially as three of the riders hadn't ridden a time trial before. Thanks to the organisers for a brilliant event.

Chapeau for giving it a go - are there many TTTs in Scotland to help you fine tune your technique?
I guess Bill won't be ordering the picture then - had he pulled over to clean his Cervelo?================================

You should have used aerobars ...
Fortunately you didn't wear WLC kit0 -
Congratulations to Matt,Sadiq,Bill & Stevie for having the balls to do such an event...no doubt you would have been up against it! and for a 1st time attempt I reckon you all did great to even finish....I wouldn't even dream of entering such an intense event...everyone starts somewhere and if guys like Sadiq were absolutely wasted by the end it speaks volumes to me...again well done to all.0

thanks for the positive comments richy....for a club that started out with 4 members a year ago we didnt exactly have a lot of people to choose from let alone select 4 riders all of an evenish level/experience so there were always going to be issues relating to technique and not being able to 'hold a wheel' but the idea here was to create a benchmark and impetus for the club as well as getting in on the competitive map beyond sportive riding....
as for the day i'm sure everyone will say that it was a worthwile exercise and one that will provide us all with some fond memories testing ourselves against scotland's best....seeing the other riders in action gives encouragement to continue and develop our own riding. as it turned out os65 must have done about 85% of the work on the front and at times it was a real strain trying to stick on his wheel, he must have been pretty frustrated with constant shouts of 'ease off' but for those of us who have trained with him will recognise there is no shame as he can motor0 -
Wow...big time respect and chapeau indeed. It's a great start and after you can feel your legs again, I'm sure you will want 5 minutes off of that next year!
Still, with all the inspiring stuff from our team GB, I've ordered up my skinsuit from wiggle, practiced my aero position in the bath and identified the bike for the job..

See you in the paceline!
Well done guys,

Agree with Fathead. We went into the event to 'suck it and see' and get a bit of experience, we had good team camaraderie and it was a great feeling to cross the line together. We even puched the air and had a little hug like the pursuit squad at the Olympics.
This is a tough event, especially when the riders are at different levels. Our game plan was to finish as a four but events got the better of us.
We wouldn't have finished last if we had made the right start time (my fault! ) plus the wind was stronger on the second lap for those who started later in the field and we didn't use tribars or other TT equipment
We communicated well, which I think is the key in this kind of event, so no frustration on my part, I had a great day and enjoyed the team spirit and would love to do more stuff like this...
I'm hoping that the TTT will encourage the guys who took part and other members to ride in some open 10s and 25s
I reckon the key to a successful club is good fellowship and doing this kind of event is a good way to build it up
We started the club with 4 members last November and now there are 12 of us, with a few more riders expressing an interest...
Nice bike 'goff, not sure the UCI would be too pleased though!
see you on Thursday at the Bridge Inn
OS 650 -
Went to the Pedal Power run on tuesday and went out in the first group.Got caught then stuck to Fatheads wheel and he did all the work . Good run that got VERY wet towards the end....A bit of work still required for entering TTT :?
Should make it OK to the Bridge Inn on thursday.

I turned up to that about 5 mins late. My friend dragged me round which was fun, if a little tiring. We were caught pretty quickly (unsurprisingly) but caught a couple of stragglers ourselves. The rain at the end was wild.Scottish and British...and a bit French0 -
Sorry about my tardy arrival last night, and subsequent puncture going up Preston road to Beecraigs. And thanks for the energy bar Fathead, I was about to bonk after already doing 40 miles
Hope you had a good ride - where did you get to? I ended up riding round to Mains and back up through Beecraigs and home before the rain started. totalling 55 for the day
It was great being up on the hills as the sun set.
Hey dulldave, good effort on the Pedal Power ride, hope to see you out soon
Our TTT effort is in the Linlithgow Gazette this week, they cropped the photo so only myself and fathead are visible in our 'action' shot
I won't be out on Saturday, have a good ride but Bob and myself are doing the Fife CA 10 on Sunday
OS 650 -
I'll be out on Saturday, got the B na Ba coming up in 2 weeks time and not enough miles in the legs. The weather looks like it's going to play ball for once.================================
