Hi guys,
Just wanted to thank the guys for taking me round on Saturday morning.
It was a great day for it and I really enjoyed the run.
For anyone considering coming out but not too sure about the pace I would say go for it - If I can do it then pretty much anyone can! The guys kindly hang back and make you feel most welcome.
Will be back for more and hopefully won't take too long until I can get a bit of fitness up.
Cheers to Matt, John, Mark, Sidiq and Brian.

Hi Grant
Glad you had a good run on Saturday, and that you will be back !!
It was a very good run in excellent weather. This prompted me to get online on saturday night and order some new SUMMER tops.By Sunday morning I was regretting this decision.
Hopefully Bill,Stevie and Malcolm had a good day for the Skye sportive...
Cheers

The weather on Skye was almost as hot as Bill and Stevie's form - 2nd and 3rd fastest times for the Beag event - Chapeau! I managed to stick with them for all of half a mile before I realising that my plan of drafting them for 40 miles before heading off on the Mor course was flawed.
Having died a thousand deaths in the second half and nearly climbing off, I'm well into type 2 enjoyment. It's just a shame that the roadwork convoy cost me the 50 seconds which would have had me beneath 6 hours.
We're going to have to get a rogues gallery on a website or something though. We were sat next to Bill and Stevie at the pre-race breakfast chatting away oblivious as to who they were. Either that or Bill needs to bring his Cervelo down to breakfast with him.================================

Excellent times in the Skye sportive,Malcolm,Stevie and Bill....
The weather looks excellent in the photos.
Bill,Is the person in front of you on a Madone 5.5 like mine ??
You should have bought one of these

Hi Mark,
Cheers for that, it was a fantastic day and highly recommend it for next year as a club chain gang, it would be awesome. Myself and Stevie went for it from the start and spoke the night before about trying to set a good time and work as a team. We had a guy draft us for the whole run and decided to wait until the last hill 2 miles from the finish to shake him off  which worked !
Looking forward to Saturday and hopefully we will get a decent turn out and some decent weather with any luck !!!!!
The Madone didn't stay in front for long
See you Saturday

Headed over to Linlithgow Bridge tonight and met Ian (Triathlon Ian !!)
We did 3 circuits at a reasonable pace.
Got rather cold towards 7.30 so we called it a night.

Mark0 -
Just got back from Meadowbank.
I'm claiming another club record! I'm the only member to have done a 250m standing start sprint. Time is a bit dodgy - 23.51, 'bout 2 seconds slower than the half decent trackies but what the hell! Beat that!
See you tomorrow at 8.am
OS 650 -
Made it back in one piece after the wheel incident, hope you guys had a great ride!
should be out next week on the mtb!0 -
Good news Jonathon, we done about 45+ mls and it was a great sunny day.
At least we stand a chance next week, maybe!!! of keeping up.
See you soon.
Bill0 -
When I left you guys the 30mph sign stats were os: 3, Sparky: 3, Bill: 1, anyone else get a sneaky sprint?
Great ride
os 650 -
Evening All
Dont know where those sprints came from Do we have a points table?
Got home after 3.5 hours cycling time and 54 miles covered, but shattered.
I will not be out on Thursday as I am in Cheshire at a conference.Taking my bike to do a Recce of Horshoe Pass and Bwlch Pen Barras for the upcoming Dave Lloyd.
Cheers

working today, glad you got out0
-
Couldn't make it on Saturday as was at a wedding - lovely day for it mind you.
Will be out on the mtb next Saturday but will be up for a run in a fortnight as that will be my last chance for a few weeks as I will be off to France on holiday thereafter.
By that time I'll have my mtb mech fitted so I can get up the hills with my new super-duper 32tooth rear cassette  :P0 -

OS 650 -
I'll not be out tomorrow as I'm off-roading it this weekend however will be there if there's anyone out next weekend.
Enjoy,
Cheers0 -
I was down in Wales last week and did 40 miles of the Dave Lloyd Mini Mega Challenge route.Bwlch Pen Barras is steep, especially at the hairpin. The small lane before the actuall climb is steeper though :? Horshoe Pass is not too bad (freezing cold even on a sunny day!!) and the Worlds End descent is treacherous with gravel. Some of the lanes are barely wide enough for a small car (hope the tractors have a day off !!) and so remote that the cattle grids are filled in with grass growing from them :?
I shall not be at Linlithgow Bridge on Thursday but will be out on Saturday morning for an extended run.
Mark...
P.S. Kinscavil speed on saturday was 47.9 mph...0 -
Well done on the reccie ride Mark.
I only managed 46.3mph but I think you have a slight ballast advantage m8
Rgds, Bill0 -
Is there a morning ride tomorrow or is everyone saving themselves for the overnighter to Aberdeen? Was going to give it a miss and have a lie-in but the weather's too good not to ride.
Malcolm================================

hi malcom, i'm racing tomorrow so won't be out, I doubt anyone doing the allnighter would be out either0
-
All nighter cancelled due to bad weather! didn't fancy 150 miles in gale force winds and lashing rain.
We're going to do it in a couple of weeks with a slight tweak. Head to Holy Island near Berwick upon tweed rather than Aberdeen
FatHead - what was the race? how did you get on?
os650 -
Hi OS65. I would not have fancied doing that route in this weather either. :?
Great run today in good weather.Bill,Stevie,Malcolm and myself along with new guys Mike,Dougie and Jim(who was visiting the area) I ended up covering 82 miles by the time i got in,so i have hopefully done enough to get round the Dave Lloyd Mini Mega
I shall not be out this week (other than a quick spin) as i am off to Wales on Saturday.
Cheers
Mark...0 -
SparkyP,
82 miles? Good effort - where did you head after I split at Faucheldean? You didn't mention your Boonenesque gaffe (no, not the powdered polevault) at the 30 sign coming into Linlithgow? Enjoy the DL(m)MC
OS65
As a veteran of a few overnighters, could I suggest that you might not want to publish the destination in advance but simply follow the weather on the day with one eye on the rail network? You'd be surprised where you could end up.================================

Mark thats a lot of miles to do on those roads. Did you find your recce route useful for the Mega challenge? I may see you there at the start, but probably not at the end as I reckon its going to take me at least 10 hours to do the route.
I did a 90 miler yesterday over in the Ochils with my brother as a final last longish run for the Mega challenge and have been getting a few 90 - 100 mile runs in recently to get attuned for the lengthy sportives.
Anybody here doing the Southern Upland Sportive in 3 weeks? There is only 12 places left for the only 'real' mountain top finish sportive.Brian B.0 -

Have just entered. Thanks for the heads-up. Will be nice to do a sportive which takes in a bit of my normal stomping ground! The Terms and Conditions rightly draw peoples' attention to the dangers of descending Lowther when other riders are going up. That sounds like an accident waiting to happen, IMHO.
Wussed out of Lowther yesterday on a 106 mile circuit from Glasgow to Wanlockhead and back, as it was chucking it down from Leadhills onwards. Also balied out of my normal route home (via Crawfordjohn, Glespin and Muirkirk) and instead took the A76 to Kilmarnock instead. Cue 30 miles of brisk tailwind: woo-hoo!!0 -
Good Idea about the destination Malcolm. Fancy doing one in a couple of weeks?!!
What was the boonenesque gaff that Sparky committed?
