• I saw Kingston Wheeler flash by in a blur of blue the other night. Tried to catch up but to no avail.lol. Im giving it a hard go tomorrow morning and will post then, doubt it will be much under 60mins though.

Will do mate. Looks like a few attempts might be made this w/e (me included hopefully!) So keep those times coming in and I'll put up a new list on Monday.

I'll give it another go tomorrow evening.
Put me down as "fitness". ha ha

Couple of questions:
1) Do aero bars help in RP (or too hilly)
2) How do these speeds compare to a 40km flat TT.
(i.e. I have an average of about 29kph for 32.5km in RP. Would this be around 32kph on a flat course?)

... say hello if you pass. I'm the fat lad on the Litespeed that's way too good for me.

If it wasn't for hangovers, I'd ride everyday.

Not as quick as I hoped for. Shall have to start putting the laps in I think. Also trying to drop my weight down to 78Kg, but having a hard time, not eating sweets and other rubbish.

I've never raced in my life. Just started fast touring/audax long distance stuff a couple of years ago aged 50. This is on my steel tourer with m.guards, rack, etc. Been going to the park on and off since last winter and I don't get overtaken as much now as I used to!

It's also a round trip of 30 miles for me to get to RP. Excuses, excuses.....

there's no such thing as steep hills - just the wrong gear

a serious case of small cogs

just got under the hour mark. would have been better but for a disastrously slow 2nd lap, getting stuck behind a million cars. Not bad for april and still 5kgs to shift

oh, and i switched to anti clockwise.

when does it close to traffic ?
whats the difference between clock/anti clock?
women joggers plentiful??[8D]

Not particularly - and it depends which way you go. Clockwise there's a short sharp shock and a couple of drags. Anti there's a shorter (and less sharp) shock and a couple of drags.

whats the best time to go?
Early or late if on the weekend - lots of cars from about 9.30 onwards. Never been in the week.

is there anywhere to park a car/taxi(would be coming in from the north london area)?
Yep, big car park at Roehampton Gate and one not far from Richmond gate. A few in between too.

when does it close to traffic?
Dusk to Dawn I beleive.

whats the difference between clock/anti clock?
The hills (see above). Anti is a little shorter 'cos you can go left at the roundbouts, but we're talking metres here.

women joggers plentiful??[8D]
Can be!

are you all speed freaks[:p]
Nah.

would i look out of place?
Post us a picture.

can i have a handicap start?
Nope.

alcoholic establishment nearby?
Can't recommend any in particular, but Richmond's only down the hill...

Hey, Chocolateboy - you're on.

I gotta warn you that I'm dropping some pounds. I'm training for the July 1 Stage 1 Sportive; I need to lose a few. As I write this I've gone from 92kg to almost 88kg. I'm scared of hills and I figure I either need to get lighter or swap my double for a compact...and losing the weight is cheaper.

I'll be posting a new time in a few weeks. I'm going to try like hell to break an hour (and hold you off).

Competition. I like it.

I'm aiming for sub 60mins (and possibly 88kgs) by the end of summer.

If it wasn't for hangovers, I'd ride everyday.
• finally managed a goood time last night on my carrera, with a new 10 speed set-up i might add, and losing a couple of kg's!!

I'm struggling to improve on my 1:08:22.
Did 1:12:16 last Thursday an 1:08:37 last night.

Will try again this Thursday and/or next week.

No-one replied to my Aerobars question (as in what time difference should they make?). Is it a stupid question?

If it wasn't for hangovers, I'd ride everyday.

Keep going, you'll see those times come down soon!

Not a silly question at all - in fact I've been wondering this myself. Come on guys, tell us if you're Aero assisted! (I'm not).

No aerobars here... I do occasionally try to strike extreme aerodynamic poses in a desperate attempt to improve on my time (usually on the last third of the last lap), but it never makes much difference and probably looks very silly, too.

Also on the subject of aerodynamics I have to confess to the occasional bit of motor pacing, but this merely compensates for the many times the c*rs get in the way.

And another thing... anyone managing to break personal bests this week is a bit of a hero IMO, what with the nasty easterly that's been blowing.

The wind seemed very bad last night.
What do people think is the best wind for a fast lap anti?

Hey everyone,

Had my roadie for just under 2 months now, and ive only just got to a fitness level for 3 laps flat out. So anyways..... just got back and I managed 1:12:22 anticlockwise. Not the heady heights of under an hour im afraid. Hopefully under 1:10 next time.

Cheers

Will

I am only posting because I have been inspired by what I have read here. I bought a hybrid 2 months ago to wander around the paths of RP, not realising I could whizz / trundle around the roads at night.

So, yesterday I finished my first 2 (two!) laps of the roads, in 63 mins,(anti) and was feeling very pleased with myself, and hope to complete 3 laps in 90 mins soon!

I live between Kingston and Ham gates, and the start at either gate is a killer. My first single lap took 36 mins, but the first 2 mins were spent doing the first 200 vertical yards from Ham gate!

Anyway, thanks for getting me going, I shall not be troubling your chart for a good while yet.

Billios - good effort, you're on the database now so look out for the next time I post the list!

laertes - that's awesome, keep going and don't be shy to tell us your 3-lap time when you have a go. It's all about setting yourself a target to beat [:)]

I'm impressed. Just the fact that you're doing it so often tells me it's going to be tough to hold you off! I'm going to try to get down there again on either the morning of the 19th or 26th. My goal will be 63mins.
