  • Ok for any one who might be interested I will be starting my Sunday ride at the big roundabout at the end of Leabridge Rd, Wipps Cross Rd and Wood St, at 9am. So if you can still make it I will see you there Simon.

Brad68 if your interested, we could meet you on route 9.15 aprox at Woodford Station.

The route I was thinking of doing is to Stapleford Abbotts, Doddinghurst, Willinggale, High Easter, Matching Green, Toot Hill, Epping etc. Or something like that.

I'll be there, how long is the route?
    Where\'s me jumper?
  • About 60 miles, but don't mind doing slightly less or more. See on the day.
  • Ok, I might be there ( Whips Roundabout) so don't wait for me if i'm not. If I do come I will be punctual.

Only reason I might not be there is that I might haul my carcass out of bed at 6am and shoot off then for three hours.
  • can't make it.....have a good ride.

  • How do you fancy joining the Two Wheels Good Sunday ride starting from Crouch End. I had a chat with one of the guys at their shop. They meet outside the shop 9am, ride starts 9.30. Depending on who turns up, distance 40 - 60 miles with AV speed 16 - 17 MPH. Requirements for joining the ride, bike in good order and use a helmet. If helmet part is a problem, I could lend you one, although its not the most upto date.

I'm out until June for any serious riding - got too many college assignments to get out the door

    Sorry guys

Let us know how the Crouch End ride goes if you do it? I guess I would be too slow for that.

    Thanks

  • Well Dean, the Two Wheels Good man said the destination depends on who turns up, but they go in the direction of Hertfordshire and Essex. So in reality I have no idea, just thought it would make a nice change.

See you out side the shop 9am Sun. http://www.twowheelsgood.co.uk/index.php/crouchend.html

Well I turned up to the ride starting at Two Wheels Good at Crouch End, as did Simon. The ride was organised by Jon, and included 12 - 15 riders.
The av speed turned out to be 18mph, which was a little more than the predicted mph. I started to find the ride hard going by 30 miles due to a combination of the heat and climbing speed on the hills.

We had a stop at 30 miles, which I needed to get some more water. Then it was a fairly flat and fast ride back to north London. Enjoyed the ride and company look forward to joining this ride again.

In all we did 56 miles at what felt like a fast pace.

    Here is the route

I wouldn't mind joining them in the future, everyone seemed friendly and welcoming. I was slightly scared at the beginning due to the amount of well-developed calf muscles on show! - thought that I'd be struggling to keep up but managed alright.

Quite tiring though, it felt as if the av. speed was higher than 18mph.

I think the speed felt higher, because of that cyclist in the CTC shirt who was speeding up the hills between 16 - 17 mph. In fact he seemed to be responsible for most of the fast speeds. To the extent that I heard one of the other riders with "well developed calf muscles" say "I can't take much more of this".

Are we going out this weekend, if so where do you fancy? I've no preference, so i'll let the majority decide .

Did our 30 mile route this afternoon, got back just before the rain started. The cafe at High Beach was open (relief!), so had a sweet cuppa tea and a bit of fruit cake there.

Have you had a proper ride on the new bike yet Jonathan?

I think it would be worth doing the Two Wheels Good ride again on Sunday. See you there.

Haven't had the opportunity to get on the new bike. I won't turn up with it on Sunday, want to get a proper go on it before doing any group rides.

Yes, I did look at the pictures, looked really dusty. Bet that was a tight squeeze when the main bunch came round.

Never really was a main bunch at that stage - only 15k to go

O'Grady had stretched everyone by then

I'm not able to make it this weekend. I have to work extra hours this week and need to use Sunday to do my studies. Will surely be out next week though.

I'm currently doing a foundation degree in maths and further maths, which covers Alevel and parts of the first year degree course.

Exams are coming up at the end of May.

Is that for pleasure or with a vocation in mind?

Look at me, I'm procrastinating again... better get back to studies and turn off the internet.

I'll be starting a degree in Financial Economics this year, I enjoy working with figures and can't escape the fact that I need to aim for a well paid job to fund my expensive hobby.

Snuck out for a couple of hours because I bored - High Beech and back

Unfortunately, got hit on the Lea Bridge roundabout where we usually start.

I'm fine... lots of road rash and a swollen elbow

Police were on the scene before I even got a chance to stand up

Bike is probably f**ked, chips off the carbon stays

Anyways, doctors given me the all clear for now, but I'll be aching like hell tomorrow
  • Sorry to hear that Stuart, Glad to hear your ok, bar bumps and scratches. Since the police were on the scene quickly I assume someone got the drivers details & a witness statement. Which would be needed if you wanted to make a claim.
Also it would be worth contacting condor to find out weather its cost affective to replace the damaged carbon fibre components.
Anyway glad to here you survived that fright.

To be honest, it's a brand new bike less 300 miles on it

Now it's battered and bruised like me - it's scraped across the floor. I do hope I get a new frame, wheels and gearset.

Driver accepts responsibility, so that's in a police statement and I have his insurance details and home phone number. Plus two witness statements were taken.

Left elbow and hip are sore as hell... hope to get this mess sorted soon and have a road worthy bike to go out in the sun
