LiT - a girl after my own heart! This has been my counter-attack to Daniel B's "oooh I need a shiny expensive new bike because it's lighter and then I'll be really fast and it's really pretty" statements (frequent)
Aha, but if I say it reguarly enough, and lay some substantial foundations, then when a lovely new shiny addition appears in the dining room, you won't be as surprised as you would have been otherwise
And then we can appreciate its beauty together
It is clearly a selfless act on my part, and I think I should be commended.

Have you tried the "Can I buy xxx bike at £obscene amount " and then negotiated down to the one you really wanted?
If you have how did you get it to work? Never does for me... :xSteve C0 -

I find that my wife takes so little interest, just by simply buying a new bike the same colour as the old one is enough to alley any suspicion.
It somewhat narrows your choice, but im now looking for a high spec silver road bike!
Any suggestions? (MUST be silver)Specialised Epic MTB on slicks.

I tend to say I have thought something through (and I do) and have done oodles of research, and have decided I want to buy X, and then buy it, again after plenty of research - hence my Felt.
However when I bought the Felt, I thought I really want to be going out with my gf, so I bought her a nice Trek, and then rang her to confess to the purchase, luckily she loved it (I knew she would, honest) when she clapped eyes on it and it is the perfect size.
My usual rationale is, 'yes but the thing is' and then leading down to the great buy or bargain, or huge amount of cost saving involved, and just how much I need to have it.
Bloody hell, I'm giving away my secrets here :?

I can see I've been wasting time over in Cake Stop. Well, I've learned my lesson. If your man is going to bag LiT he's going to have the MTFU on the banter stakes and fess up his gearing (his "special edition" Langster isn't going to cut it with her, Her GI scores bigger than my IQ and I'm a fecking genius).
Where did he go? He popped up - blurted "I fancy you" then disappeared......
No Langster for me Greg. Pompino or Touche, depending on mood, and 46x18 for pretty much everything. I do live in the Cotswolds though so do I get some 'hill credit'??0 -
ps. what does MTFU stand for?0
-
MTFU = Man the Fuck Up.
A standard thread term requiring more effort and less whingeing.
46 18....... and Hills........

This is supposed to be about me and LiT for God's sake, not bragging about our conquests
If I'm supposed to MTFU to win her affections, does that mean that some poetry is out of the question? I was working on something sensitive and meaningful..0 -

This is more what I had in mind, seeing as our love affair is purely in the 'ether' for the moment:
"Pixels rustle like autumn leaves in a cooling breeze.
Waves of zeros and ones, pounding like the ocean on the beaches of my heart.
Oh, what profound thought to be lost in,
That I yearn for a byte"
Comments and suggestions, from those who know her, welcome..0 -
My suggestion is that instead of asking us for reassurance you MTFU and court the lady properly - by PM0
