    Hi guys,
just back from a week at Centre Parcs at Elveden - so I took the opportunity to go up the road to Thetford. The black run is looking tired in some places but thoroughly rideable. The red run has been given some tlc recently by TIMBER so look out for new berms and a couple of simple 'shore bits close to the start.
Oh, and the bacon butties are very nice. If you get an opportunity to go "off-piste" there is some good single track south of the black run as you get close to the main road ('bout half way around, before the Beast) with lots to explore.

    Happy hunting

  • I think I've hit on the same singletrack you mention mbrfan :) it's very passable, there's also a few more bomb-hold yet futher south (though don't ask me to find them again!

tbh, I'm quite game for juts hitting the black route, it's rideable, and great fun all the way round (though a bit over-worn in places)

Still game for this Sunday :)

Seems like the support for Thetford has waned slightly! Maybe it might be a good idea to postpone the trip for a week or 2. If so I’m probably going to get out locally sometime tomorrow for a couple of hours if anyone else is interested?

    Hi all,

Completed the running commitments for a while now (took 7 mins off my PB for the half marathon) so now back in the running for a ride on Sunday. Anyone planning an outing for the 9th? Have car, will travel.

    Steve
  • Am also in Pboro! Have been contemplating a trip to Thetford this weekend, as the gf's away!
Look out for a numpty on a Caldera at FM or Bourne Woods - that'll be me!

Cheers WRFC - Bourne woods - what's that like this time of year? Does anyone else fancy trying it out this Sunday?

Is anyone else still reading this topic? Troopy, Mike, anyone?

I was up at Bourne Woods today, not to muddy and lots of swift singletrack to play on if you hunt around. Somebody has taken objection to the nicely built dirt jumps and put up a sign about them which is a shame.

There is not much else nearby that i am aware of.
If i am going out on one i am happy, If i am out on one i am happy, If i have just been out on one i am happy, otherwise miserable!
  • Someone always takes exception to dirt jumps... Last time I was up at Bourne (a couple of weeks ago), I found it boggy beyond belief. However, we've been fairly dry since then, so it should be OK!
Think I'll be doing Thetford on Friday now, as I've got the day off, and may go for a quick blast around Bourn eon sunday, depending on work and weather!

  • Why not? Sadly I only have tiny car, but I can certainly meet you there if you want! Either way, drop me a pm!
    Anyone else in?

Next week I'm working in south Wales. I have planned the work for Thursday and Firday so will be staying over the weekend. I'm planning to ride Afan on Saturday and then maybe Cwmcarn on the Sunday morning if anyone is interested in joining me!!

Right, a contact through work is a regular at Thetford and is happy to hook up with us one Sunday afternoon to check out the new bit on the red route and maybe show us some of the other stuff. I propose Sunday 6th April. It sounds a long way off but there's Easter in between and I bet you all have plans.

Who's up for joining me? I can provide transport for 1 and his bike, 2 at a push (might get a bit cramped in the back otherwise)

I should be up for the 6th, i've sold my house but don't think i'll be moving until the middle of April.
I was going to ask if anyone was out for a spin this weekend but it looks like it's going to be blowing a gale :( so maybe it's not a good idea! unless we head out over Wakerley/Fine Shades woods.

Just checking in (been neglecting my forum-creator duties as of late :p

I'm (still) game for Sunday 6th, and indeed have managed to get Tubeless working flawlessly in both front and rear wheels, Thanks for your help there Lee - The chap who's refitting our bathrooms atm brought a compressor down the day before yesterday and a new valve core arrived for the rim strip this morning - it's already all fitted and leak-testing :D

Meanwhile, welcome to the new guys in the group and I'll see all of you who are coming on the 6th then :)

    Guys,
I know some of you ride at bourne Woods, so I thought I wood post this link for the proposed Bourne Ring Road and the downgrasing of the wood to local status (followed by the Larkfleet Homes proposal.

Had arranged to meet colleague at Thetford early afternoon but hadn't fixed a time.. Could I propose therefore, that we meet at Ferry Meadows at 10 or 11 a.m.? There seems no point in having more drivers/cars than necessary, so we could agree how to share out the bikes/passengers. About 2 hours drive?

There's a parking charge at Thetford but I understand there is a free bit on the other side of the road and a short ride along the blue route to the cafe/shop.

We should be able to make Thetford in about 1.5 hours. If we park at the Brandon centre I think if we have to pay then it is a lot cheaper there, but then again if there's 2 or 3 per car £6 at the Thetford centre is not all that much. If we meet at 11 we'll be ready for riding at 1, is this early enough?

Sounds good gents would rather park at center, car will be safer hopefully :(

I am taking Mike in my car and have room for one more

Riding at 1 sounds great although snow is forcast should hopefully be able to call the ball then.....

    Morning,

If it's ok with you guys i'll tag along, and hopefully keep up! i'll be able to take one other at a push if required.

Whereabouts in ferry meadows were you planning on meeting up and at what time, 10 or 11?

best give the bike a quick once over saturday....

    cheers
