It wasn’t as close as it first looked though and it was a marshalled crossing point.

It's close enough. What if something goes wrong? If I was Just Stop Oil I'd see that as an invitation for a stunt at the finish tomorrow

That was about 5 seconds before she got to that crossing point, but it was clear by then. I think they might like to make sure the riders don't see that in front of them.

Good to see the traffic cone is correctly situated on the Duke. The worlds are healing

Denmark showing interest from the start. Think they want to thin the field out before anyone gets a chance to break away. Seems to be working

The crossing should probably be further from the bend so the marshals get a better view of approaching riders to be fair or they should be using whistles. Seems to always happen at UK races. You get the same at running events, someone will cross in a gap between groups and then a load of others follow, suddenly see people coming and jog across with one of those silly nervous laughs.

So, Dutch lad has a gap, but they're just leaving him hanging there, he's only got another 114km to go

Belgian trying to get some mech help, but they justseem to be standing around metaphorically kicking the wheel

Why is Pidcock not riding tomorrow?

Not a clue, probably wants to mess around getting muddy as a priority. It would be a good course for him, looks very suited to multiple short, sharp efforts that CX riders tend to be good at.
But it's 270km, and isn't the predominant view on this forum that Pidders is no good in long races?

Home advantage not working (enough) for the DH girls.

(Although some genuinely solid rides by a lot of them)

    Lolz...
Crash takes out a few riders, a helper is getting one of them out of the road and kicks a bidon away - straight into some poor guy still sitting in the gutter

Lots of crashes in the dry.
Hopefully everyone participating later in the week is paying attention.

4 in the top 8 and no medals (4th, 5th, 6th and 8th). That must be a bit frustrating.

Enjoyed that, the wooded section with the roots made me wince as that is always my downfall when I ride off-road

WTF is the Belgian rider doing trying to tighten his thru axle himself whilst riding?

Surprised by the amount of riders who prefer keeping gels in their shorts rather than jersey pockets. Their choice but I'm surprised.

This is really a race-it-from-the-front course. It's all about selections, right from the off - nobody is going top be organising a proper chase on this.

Was my first thought but I waited for a rear view. Some have pockets.
That said, maybe it is just the guys in skin suits. Maybe.... as you were. ;)

    17 NORDHAGEN Jørgen NOR
    21 PHILIPSEN Albert DEN

Gap around 40" with a Belgian trying to bridge. It's a decent group.

ØRN-KRISTOFF will be trying to fly like an eagle.... on the STORM

Insane. If he was anywhere near anyone else it should have been a DQ.

The Worlds XCO race has been a priority since last year's disappointment when he came down with a bug during the week of the race. Unfinished business, though like last year he won't have a great grid position.
