So a possible explanation is that INEOS have had a FroomeDog with Carlos but buggered it up...

I'm not sure that's fair. Ineos backed him at the Vuelta last year as their GC leader, ahead of both Carapaz and Geoghegan-Hart, and took him to the Tour this year as a protected rider.ddraver said:So a possible explanation is that INEOS have had a FroomeDog with Carlos but buggered it up...

I can't speak to the contract side of things, but from a sporting perspective they clearly thought he was a rider worth investing in.1 -
If he’s staying and I hope he is, that is surely an end to the Remco talk. For now.0

Because Rodriguez can be their GC hope for the next few years, along with Arensman and hopefully Bernal.gsk82 said:

Leonard, Tarling and L Hayter are also good prospects.
Wait 2 years and then sign Remco when his contract is ending.0 -
It will certainly quieten speculation. But if people have heard things...roscoe said:If he’s staying and I hope he is, that is surely an end to the Remco talk. For now.
Also Sky/Ineos have frequently had two riders high on GC. Seven of their twelve GT wins had another rider in the top six. Four were won by 'Plan B'.
My theory which I posted on the Ineos thread does make more sense for 2025 than 2024Twitter: @RichN952 -

I assume Brads disappearance is in part due to Ben’s blossoming career? Let him get on with it ?2020/2021/2022 Metric Century Challenge Winner1 -
I don't fully understand the responsibilities of the various roles of the management but is that a slight suggestion that others perhaps haven't been performing very well in the rider recruitment / retention side of things or maybe that Brailsford had fallen asleep a bit?andyp said:1 -
My interpretation was that Brailsford had moved on. He is being brought back as the rider recruitment/retention/results side of things isn't as good as expected.Pross said:

I am not sure. You have no chance.Veronese68 wrote:PB is the most sensible person on here.1 -
There's an article about this by Daniel Benson on GCN, basically there's a rider transfer committee in place, and it's been taking a long time to come to a decision on signing riders.2

Transfer committee... given the length of time they seem to be taking to make a signing, I reckon they've based their transfer committee decision making on this:andyp said:There's an article about this by Daniel Benson on GCN, basically there's a rider transfer committee in place, and it's been taking a long time to come to a decision on signing riders.

This is baffling one, Soudal Quick-Step sign Ayco Bastiens (nope, me neither) on a two year deal. His palmares doesn't exactly scream World Tour to me.

Do you get 'pay riders' in cycling, or might it become a thing a bit like it can be in F1?Felt F70 05 (Turbo)

Meanwhile, Claire Steels excellent season, where she's consistently been on the verge of the top ten in WWT stage races, has been rewarded with a move to Movistar.
