I got hit on the kneecap at school when the grass was greener. It fvck1ng hurt, stupid sport. Although not as stupid as football because at least it doesn't rely on subservient feet.

Hockey’s an ace sport, taking a stick to the face isn’t though.
    It’s a game for toughies.
  • Making a thumb sandwich between your own and an opposition's hockey stick isn't great either.

He only exists in pro race.

Not that I know much about Hockey but she did look good. The penalty takers on the other hand seemed to panic as soon as she came off her line.

He'd just posted in the photography thread on here which was why I asked

Not that much of a surprise, the demographic is probably similar to SA.

I know nothing about Namibia, other than it is in Africa... wasn't Frankie Fredricks from Namibia?

I can’t find a profile for the RR tomorrow. Is it flat? Sprint finish?

As far as the racing goes, it’s a flat course that should suit the sprinters – on paper, at least.

There’s just over 100 metres of elevation per lap, no major climbs to worry about, and the finish should be straightforward. The roads used are nice and wide, apart from a short section of country lanes far out from the finale.

With 3km to go, there’ll be a fight for position before a right-hander, followed by another right turn at a roundabout inside 2km. From there, it’s a virtually a straight shot to the finish.

If anyone wants to avoid a bunch sprint, it’ll be up to the riders – not the parcours – to make the race.

No, probs. It's bizarre I found the best info on an Aussie site.
  • They have been some great races on the athletics track today and the quality of some of the fields were none to shabby either.
The final 150 metres of the men's 5000 was quite something.

I live locally... no climbs, other than bridges and very short kicks. Not the best course to be honest...

  • Women's road race has ~75Km left and after a few minutes watching, I'm looking for some drying paint, drab pancake course and no action besides two trailing Belize riders being pulled out.

I chucked this course into Strava when it was announced and it seemed quite undulating. Only about 40 riders left in the peloton and that briefly split into 3 just now when the pace went up. Lots of weaker riders in there and I can see the final peloton effectively being the size of a large break (15-20 riders).

A group of 10 went clear briefly just by chasing down an attack by 2 riders. 6 have stayed clear

Can't see beyond Cav for the men's race on this course. That would seal his greatness, they don't get bigger than this.

(Hoping the BBC will offer me a job).

Missed most of this race but on the basis of the last 20 minutes perhaps a good decision.

That has become apparent - God knows who thought this makes a good road race course.

Boy, was that one dull race.
It was so boring it's put me right off watching the men's race.

Hopefully none of the recently converted will have watched.

Didn't help that the feed zone was at the bottom of the only meaningful bump in central Warwick... yeah, dull racing, but a nice atmosphere in the town... managed to find outdoor seating in the shade in a cafe'... very nice

I've got the red button feed on ready for the bloke RR. Really annoyingly I can just about hear them calling out the teams (bad enough), but what I'm looking at is a bloody castle and a pedalo swan going down a river.

Thought I'd catch up with the Bronze medal cricket match. Looked at the score and decided not to bother :( England are going to get thumped unless the bowlers suddenly wake up (or NZ fall asleep)
  • The good news is that was so meh I can now face catching up with some of the Tour of Poland
