Was slightly surprised to turn the TV on and see Ride London was on then realised it was the women's version.

If anyone is actually missing the Giro, there looks as if there's a rather nice little 1.1 on in the South of France, tomorrow.
All the usual French suspects are riding, plus the likes of Wellens, Mike Woods, Fuglsang, Meintjes, Mühlberger and Chris Froome.

Some serious climbing by the looks. Coverage in the usual spots from as early as 11-45am BST, until the finish. So, it's pretty extensive live coverage.

Happy memories of a trip to Barcelonette a few years back. Cycling paradise round there.

    Proper Alpine climbs these.
So far, I have to say that Chris Froome is looking better than I have seen him since his crash.

Yes, brewing up nicely. Groupama doing every inch of work from what I've seen.

First to get dropped when the pace went up on the final climb. Bouchard or Meintjes looking like they might be next.

This race has had very much the look of a big mountain stage in a GT.
It’s an impressive addition to the calendar of the coup de France.

Fuglsang and Woods bring home the UCI bacon.
More points from this 1.1 race than the entire Giro.

Between them more points than Carthy got in the Giro coming 9th (including stage points)

11th for Froome. His highest finish in a UCI one day race since his 9th place in the 2009 GP Nobili

I think that's fair. Carthy didn't exactly do great in the Giro.

Was it about 10 times as many points for IPT as in the Giro?

I only have the times for the top 10. 10th was at 3.49

He almost got as many UCI points in this race on his own as his team did in the Giro then.

3:58. I'm not sure whether that's not bad considering the form he's been in or bad considering who he is.

Except they don’t count for the WT battle, as only the best 10 squad members count.
Another handicap aimed at WT teams who have 30 plus squad riders.

If I were the cynical type, I might suspect Lappartient of shenanigans aimed at boosting more mediocre French teams into the sports top tier.
Potentially loosing sponsors along the way doesn’t seem to factor into this er initiative.

I would think the same if I was a cynical type. Ironically it just makes French cycling over indulged, bloated and uncompetitive.

Nailed on for a top 25 finish at the tour (& all the glory that accompanies that).

A great finish to the Brussels Cycling Classic.
I won't spoil it for anyone who intends catching it on demand.

Stage 1 of the Women's Tour on pause due to an issue "up the road", which I'm assuming means the emergency services are responding to something along the course.

Also nice to see the host broadcaster hasn't heard of having a ticker with time/distance on being a useful thing to watchers....

I watched while I was having lunch and just switched on for the finish so wondered what the hell was going on. I assume the lone leader still had a decent gap? Will be tough for her if / when they get going again. Hopefully it's nothing too serious, the last time I can remember similar was standing on the Tumble for hours wondering why the Kellog's Tour hadn't shown up which turned out to be due to an outrider being killed in a collision.

The lack of a ticker is utterly bizarre, the coverage was pretty decent but I didn't have a clue how far was left.

Did it get abandoned in the end? I switched back on and there was racing showing with the solo leader but it would just play the same few seconds of picture and slightly longer commentary when I hit 'play live' then cut back out again.

    🔴🔴 Race update - 3:05pm 🔴🔴

Stage one will be restarting at 3:10pm with a 1.5-kilometre neutralised section.

The race situation at the time of the stoppage - with @CAMS_BassoBikes rider @DanniShrosbree leading the peloton - will then be re-established. https://t.co/flt0khzURt
