Once. When Pogacar already had a decent lead.

About five minutes. He looked to have it under control, but it showed he may not be invincible. Was it on Ventoux? I forget.

Yeah was the WVA win. Vingegaard finished the stage behind Pogacar. That being said, Vingegaard is definitely the real deal and maybe even the 4th best GC rider in the world.

Others know his weakness and can exploit it. Schleck on a wet descent was always good for complaints. Remco on gravel or a tricky descent may be another. He isn't going to be riding away from Pogacar on any decent climb.

    Is anyone?
Vingegaard has. Pogacar is an incredible rider, but he's not unbeatable.
    He didn't get very far
He had about 40s at the top and was only brought back on the descent. Pogacar himself said he pushed too hard trying to stay with him and had to ease off and try and manage the gap.

He literally rode away from Pogacar on a decent climb.
Just watched the highlights on gcn. I forgot it got up to 30 seconds. I was thinking it was more like 12. Pogacer struggled on the col de la loze (spelling?) in 2020 compared to Roglic too. Maybe he doesn't like the really long stuff (comparatively)?

Talking of team cars (sort of), is the Ineos Grenadier ever going to go on sale?

I think Juan is being a bit of a sillos-billos...

Good point, Rich - that's gone very quiet hasn't it?!?

It was meant to be the 'New' Defender. As the actual (albeit truly awful) new Defender is on sale now you'd imagine that's taken up all the (hopefully limited) interest in that type of thing.

About this time 2 years ago, I thought the whole COVID thing had prepared me for a Strange New World … but now Cofidis get 2 stage wins and a GC and I’m all at sea again.

Most of the WT teams and Arkea bringing only 5 or 6 man teams though. Some quality, so maybe less is more. Plenty of live coverage too.

Also tomorrow, Cav kicks off his season in Oman.

Provence offers: Alaphilippe, Carapaz, Ganna, Quintana, Viviani, Demare, Gilbert. Hayter, Rowe and Askey for British interest. A TT, a sprint, a bumpy stage and proper big climb to finish. It looks like a nice race.

Oman: Less stars. Cavendish and Gaviria for the sprints. Masnada looks like the only climber so really his to lose.

No the entire point was to ruin a perfectly decent jersey/bib combo and turn it into a boring version of Aqua Blue + Alpecin Fenix.

Sprinters didn't get the same time in Tour of Oman?

Thought I'd see if I could find any video to see if there was a gap that would explain things.
The host broadcaster (OmanSportsTV) managed to have a overhead view of the entire run in. Then missed the actual finish.....

It certainly looked closer. Bonus seconds perhaps?

It's the GC, so includes time bonuses.

    Here's the finish

That bump that Cavendish gets around the 39 second mark shows how hectic and physical these sprints are. The fact that a crash didn't occur also shows the skill levels these riders have.

50kph right across the course and they are heading to the Camargue.

    Going to be absolute carnage.

This is the ideal opportunity for Ganna to go for it with 1km to go. Who's going to chase him?

Ganna could have ridden away there and made everyone else work, as it happens Viviani still finishes well!

That was worth the watch. An excellent bonus on the flattest of flat stages.
Pretty obvious now why Viviani opted to return to Skineos.

I agree that Ganna could probably have ridden them all off his wheel in the last 2 kms
