    O'connor looked quite impressive in the ventoux challenge race earlier this year, but everyone got blown away by Lopez. Winner not in that lead group imo.

    Haha I was into it - it's a rather dystopian authoritarian programme which has not aged well so I tend to steer clear of it.

    Yes. The graph makes it look very random. What they should really do is something like Duckworth-Lewis that looks at historic races times based on loads of inputs. Then they can just give a cut off time for each stage in advance (possibly including something like 10 mins after the winner too). If a rider is dropped in the first few kms, a key factor shouldn't really involve the exact average speed of the winner.

    They could even allow the organisers to extend it for weather in exceptional circumstances.
