Big question about Cavendish etc is whether they rode that climb at tempo knowing they'd got plenty of time to get back on and save energy for later, or whether they were dropped because they simply couldn't hang on.

Given that Cav was back before Mørkøv went to fetch him it looks like the latter :(

I doubt there was any panic though

Sprinters getting back on. Russo looks to be in trouble though - he's been low key struggling throughout the race.

    Abandons.

Where's @ddraver to tell us about the ochre rocks at Roussillon?

There are now two chasing groups between leaders and peloton

Van Aert in the 2nd of them.

Jumbo-Visma not really giving a lot of protection to Vingegaard

Alaphillipe got a good team there to save his legs till the rest catch up.
Rolland, Cofids and B&B, no chance of a win. Do they?

Edit - Just realised that Rolland is on B&B. Even less chance.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

Ineos at the front, presumably with some form of a plan. All 8 of them

Some great shots of Vingegaard having a pee.

Latest wind forecast from DK TV2 is gentle to moderate breeze (3-4 on beaufort scale). Moderate tops out at 28kmh, but that's the consistent speed, not gust speed (I think)

This climb is harder than it looks on paper

Both ITV and Eurosport has split screen with race on in background while they show pointless fluff

    Harsh way to describe Rolland.

Cav is still in the peloton, unlike Mads and Nacer.

Ineos trying to keep the gap small enough so it's possible to get the stage? I can't see any other logic to them being on the front again before inevitably disappearing.

Cav about a minute down but has mountain goat Colbrelli with him as well as lots of team mates.

Maybe they're actually worried about Carapaz losing time.

Micro changes in gradient all the time breaking your rythmn ..heavy surface .. exposed hot lots of reflected road heat

Can someone from DQS ping the Ineos DS to tell Geraint to ease off a touch?

The Cav group look like they'll be 2.30-3.00 behind by the summit, any chance of him getting back for a bit?
