Think we could be seeing a lot of Declercq this week. Has he ever done anything in the lanterne?

Very British looking terrain and roads in this part of Brittany (I've only been to the eastern side which is more obviously French looking).

19 places back last time round, only a DNF previous to that. Got to be a favourite to show this year though.

    Kirby alert.
ITV 4 provides safe harbour. (but loads of ad breaks)

This is the problem with Kirby taking the dull middle stretch - it's when ITV cram the adverts in...

I'm trying Dutch. Don't speak a word of it, but it's quite relaxing.

He's not been too bad so far to be fair. He's far more suited to this part of a stage, it seems the logical rotation to me.

In case anybody is listening to ITV 4.
That climb was used in a recent race. I think it was the Tour du Finistère.
So, the French teams knew the it.

Bernard down in a softish crash.

CK's word of the day is 'fissure' and clocks resetting themselves. It's a fair point he is making (i.e. a few small gaps in the wheels can result in quite a substantial time loss) but he is repeating it quite a lot and over-egging it.

Bernie's "going back to the bunch to see who's riding". Pretty sure I can answer that without even looking up to see the TV.

Looked up. Declerq second wheel. Not sure how to process this shock.

Geraint dropped plus Lopez and possibly Pogocar.

Makes me nervous when you see him off the back like that, my automatic assumption is he has had a crash. Presumably a few of the favourites took a toilet break together.
  • So, 3 weeks of fun is underway. Looking forward to all the laughs with you lot on these threads, and - as ever - a big thanks to B-S for doing them. They really do add the community of this place.

Has anyone opened a book on when G will first crash yet?

Napoleon, don't be jealous that I've been chatting online with babes all day. Besides, we both know that I'm training to be a cage fighter.

Seems like he's been allowed entry for the Haimar Zubeldia award, this year.
First he was pretty much ignored at the team presentation.
Now Ned Boutling has called Lopez as being the most significant rider chasing to get back to the bunch!

    Thanks for the thanks.

There's one thread I don't start that needs opening: Post of the Tour 2021.

We've had another crash. This one seems to have been a bit more serious.

Bit of a pile up on the riverfront. AG2R rider and DSM rider worst affected but seem OK.

I think it was Morkov, along with the two riders ID'd Paret-Peintre and Casper Pedersen. (credit to Kirby for the last)

One of those horrible low speed, haevy impact falls. Paret-Peintre getting treated for a cut on the knee.

A bit disappointing watching this stage and the next few days. When the route was announced it looked a perfect opportunity for a mini break to Brittany and taking in the racing

I was coincidentally supposed to be in Brittany for it, obviously I am not... Hey ho.

Schelling with a little joke sprint there. Warming to him already.
  • Ewan best of the rest at the sprint.

Interesting read during the boring bits - Lachlan Morton is doing the Tour route independently, including transfers:

Noticeable that MVDP didn’t get involved in the Green Jersey sprint.

Why are Ineos, JV and Movistar riding? Also, seems unusual that Rowe isn't the front man for Ineos on a stage like this with Castroviejo and van Baarle being saved for mountain stages.
