Grealish surely. He completes the triangles in forward midfield. Not sure about Saka. Really better than Foden's guile?

There won't be more than one midfielder who might run with the ball. He's not reckless.

I think I have PTSD after the England match.

So what does anyone think of Alex Scott as a pundit? I think Freddie Lundberg is distracted.

    Decent performance and great result.

Another clean sheet, but obviously luck was shining on us for the Muller chance. Two well crafted goals, not reliant on set pieces. Woohoo.

Both goals a bit "Pep" dare I say. Tap in from 6 yards or less after intricate play around the edge of the box.

I was chewing my arm off for 87 of the 94 minutes. Even at 1-0 I was fearing the worst.

I suppose it is scars of 1-1, penalties, 1-1, penalties, ghost goal.

Prefer Emma Hayes, probably not a popular sentiment in more than one sense.

Nasty tackle in the Sweden game there.
Just me that thinks it was accidental? Kicking the ball and the player runs into his foot. 🤔
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

That was accidental in a smidsy sort of a way. Could be career ending. Likely to put the guy out for 6-12 months. Thats as bad a tackle as I've seen in a while.

I accept that the consequences are bad, I just don't think it was intentional. Got a clear kick at the ball and no unnatural follow through.

Yeah but the potential consequences of a straight leg knee high lunge are always quite bad. If you do that and miss then okay. If you do it and connect, it's a red card. Best not do it.

My level of football knowledge should be clear by now, but I'm with PB here. Not really sure what the sweedish guy is supposed to do.

Some bloke called Lineker agrees with us on Twitter PB...

So we are penalising for the consequences?
It is hard to kick a ball without your leg ending up straight.
It was a kick that ended up high, not a lunge.

That's been a red card tackle for decades. Even if he got the ball. It was one Bryan Robson would have been proud of.

Shame. We're going to be denied lingering shots of Sweedish... people (😐) in the crowd next week...

Agreed, the level of talent at Wembley today was very low by tournament standards.

Anyone trying to clear a ball better be wary.

Unless it's a goalie. If the goalie did that, it would be a yellow against the striker.

Yes didn't think it was a foul at all - kicks the ball and Ukrainian runs into his foot - accidental collision. I can see why some think it's a red - if the guy had actually lunged towards the other guy then yes - but for me it's not reckless.

That said I haven't watched it back more than once.

    True.
The inconsistency is worrying having watched what the Ukraine will try to get away with. I predict an England win but there will be a quite a few shouts of cheating diving...
Not that the tackle in question was but the rest of the match?

Anyone wondering why the non-English people in the country quite often want England to lose they should look at this morning's TV coverage. You'd think they had just won the tournament not won a second round game. And that fucking song!

The footage of behaviour afterwards doesn't look great with Covid rates surging.

Lucky there wasn't a far better sporting story yesterday that isn't getting a mention.

Ah, probably gets a bonus for showing it on telly and making me ask about it.

Kane still doesn't fit into that team. He needs to move like sterling if he's going to get chances. Currently he moves like the Ever Given.

If they are only going to try and break fast and put crosses into him in the last 10 minutes, bring him on as a sub.

BBC Breakfast had a lovely story about Stormzy going back to a house party after the match with a load of England fans. Didn't look very Covid-compliant to me.

Even if he’s non existent for 89mins he can still score with a half a chance, have faith.

Not sure why they can't build something into the shirt like they do in rugby.
