Bunch of cyclists fighting anything bigger than a cat is laughable! At least we can cycle away from these beasts quite swiftly.

For perspective, consider the reactions to spiders, wasps, bats, etc.

To be honest these days I'd back my chances of fighting something than relying on my cycling speed to escape.

I'd pay good money to watch some people on here fight a honey badger.

It’s just yawning. Bet it’s a big softie really.
I remember years ago when I was in the RAF opening the inner door to our building entrance to find a growling RAF police Alsatian staring back at me from within the security entrance. I shut the door rather quickly!. The handler thought it was a good place to leave the dog whilst he went to the toilet .......but didn’t warn anyone.

A couple of people I know who were RAF (one serving the other out) were discussing their respective experiences in the Falklands and talking about some notorious bar where the MPs had gone in to sort out an issue with some squaddies (9 Para I think). They got beaten up so sent in the dogs but one of the dogs got killed.

Don't know if it was an urban myth but the two talking were there different times and had only just met yet knew the same story.

Isn't there a video where one gets bitten by a black mamba, just has a nap for a couple of days, then bounces back.

I worked with a guy that tried to swat a wasp with a car dash panel. The guy sitting at a desk behind him leant forward and tickled his neck with a piece of paper. I was amazed at the speed a grown man could go under a desk and run out of a room. Yet he was a loudmouth that would try and throw his weight around. He really was a complete aris'.

    Love Stoffel!!! Go Badger, go!!!

Those hills behind are fabulous. Would love to go exploring around there. Reminds me of where we used to live when I was a kid - hence snakes reference.

Are police dogs not trained to just attack the arm and not the throat. It would seem to me that you are going nowhere when a German shepherd gets hold of you but the idea is that the copper then takes over to protect the dog from getting too much damage off the criminal.

Terrier are good at that sort of thing however I'm not really into rolling around on the floor biting rats.

Put a terrier into a scrap with a rat the size of a cat or a farm rat/ooloo (sic) rat then its a different story I would say.

A spade is an alternative. Messes up your lino, though.
    therefore the 50 cal.

    less effort as well.

I think the operative words there are 'trained to'. The handler is there to control the dog as well as complete the arrest. Without that training the instinct would be to take the person down and then go for the throat.

This was more my point in that the only time a human is going to win is when the dog sticks by its training and does not go for the throat. How long the dog will let you punch it in the face before it decides on a different tactic is anyone's guess.

Who here thinks they could take down a cassowary?

    Southern, Northern or Dwarf?

I reckon I could have a dwarf one but wouldn't even entertain trash talking with a hard northern ba5tard

The one I saw near Daintree so probablya southern. About as tall as me and armed with built in razor blades.

I reckon with any of them you'd need to hope you strike first.

    British version now released.

More realistic on the lion/bear, but only 45% fancied their chances against a goose. What a bunch of losers.

Not posted here for yonks. Someone linked me to this thread. THIS is the type of content that was missing here...

Apropo of nothing, out riding near Tatton Park last year I got attacked by three very, very angry geese. I wouldn't have fancied my chances against them...
