I see we're busy discussing Sagan this morning, with news this afternoon that Evenepoel has just signed a new 5-year contract with D-QS. Which means that Lefevre's team is likely safe...

So the transfer merry go round is well and truly up and running... here's a thread to keep track of it all.

Julien Vermote (ex Cofidis) to Alpecin-Fenix until end of season, with a one year extension possible.

Seems like Lefevere got himself quite the budget.

It knocks any rumour about Sagan going there on the head I would think.

I'd take JA over Sagan anyway. Will elaborate if anyone disagrees.

Sagan is still recovering from covid I think .

Rather underwhelming, Chasey, after such a build up. 😛

There are rumours on Twitter that there have been further Hirschi-style falling outs at DSM and both Soren Kragh Andersen and Jai Hindley want to leave.

Trek and ISN are possible links for Hindley.

Mentioned in Valencia commentary yesterday by JB.
She said nobody is happy at DSM.

I thought the one word answer was going to be ‘panache’, would would be perfectly acceptable (and a nod to FF).

Gilbert confirmed to retire and end 2022 season.

It's such shame the end doesn't look like its going to be as he wanted.

True, but he will get a stage at a GT (probably the Tour) before it's over for sure.

Note there appears to be some clarification of Slovak translations below. Suggests coach maybe more speculative than tweet suggests

I think QuickStep would be formidable with Sagan. The question would be will his (or his coach's) ego will let him be 'part of a pack'...

Honestly, I don't think Sagan is *that* fussed about winning or coming second.

I think he's obviously super professional so he cares from a "I want to do my job really well", but he's hardly a roadie in love with the sport.

He's said in the past he finds road riding the least interesting of all the cycling disciplines. It does however make him a rich man, so he'll do it.

AS such, I can't see the appeal to him for taking a pay cut to win a few more races, which is ultimately what going to QS means.

Also, assuming he's recovered from his accident, you don't need Evenepoel AND Sagan.

He's not a guy who gets out on the bike and nails it every day with the childhood dreams of winning Flanders or Roubaix again.

I wonder if that will effect his Tour selection? Probably not but there are team bosses that wouldn't pick him.

Are you thinking it's a foot in the Tour door for Cav?

    Yes. Wishful thinking.

When is Evenepoel's contract up? Is it too soon to announce that he'll be leaving the team? (Probably)
