It's difficult to say it's under-rated - maybe under-rated by the raver household - but it is rather lovely...

DSM send Casper Pederson up the road for...reasons. gets a gap over the bunch

Biggesser looks to be dropping out the back in yellow

    50 to go

I can't recall quite such a punishing stage turning up as early as this in Paris-Nice.
They actually tackle the finishing climb twice by the looks and the first time around it isn't even catagorised.
That would make it 8 first or second cat climbs.

Did I hear them say this current climb is uncategorised? It's a bit of a beast!

Not a part of France I'm familiar with but really tough racings roads from the little I've seen so far.

Distracted by Bouhani going out the back with a mechanical...he's got some sock like overshoes on that look like they'd take the edge off cold feet for the current weather. What are they?

Hearing them mention Lennard Hoffstede confused me, I was thinking of Leonard Hofstadter from Big Bang Theory.

    25 to go.

GC teams the woken up. Seems to have been fairly relaxed up to now.

Break has lost a minute and the gap, which had been steady, begins to tumble

Random insignificant question. Should TGH not get a bigger helmet?
His seems to be sitting on top of his head instead of him wearing it. 🤔
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

Bennett, G tearing the peloton apart. Very clear who is in form now and who has goals later in the season

    J. Bernard (and his snazzy beard) - on home roads - all that's left of the break at 44s

    20 to go

Tao Down on a corner but back up. Gaudu also affected.

Seems to have just been egos that were bruised

Edit - hmm, not so much actually. Tao not looking good. Unclear why.

Bernard has 1 min after the chaos behind

    14 to go

Edit - suddenly lots of attacks out of the front. Magnus Kort, LLS. Only LLS makes it across to Cavagna tho

    10 to go

    Race suddenly looks rather different

    Barnard
    Cavagna & LLS at ~30
    Peloton ~1.00

AG2R on the front with BEx, LJ and Ineos nowhere to be seen

7 to go and the last climb

LLS & RC are 10s behind Bernard

    Peloton at 1 min

    Di2 Fail for RC :(

Gutting for RC just has to watch the whole bunch ride past and the yellow jersey disappear for the second day in a row

George Bennett and Jai Hindley both looking good. Taking chunks out of the time gap.

Up the road, LLS has caught Bernard but gap is crumbling.

Small attacks out of the group. Shedding some big names out the back on the early, steeper, part of the climb

Luckily today is a quiet day in Brexitland.

    3 to go

ROGLIC GOES - looks on a different level. Izzaguere attempts to go with but is swept away along with LLS.

Roglic takes 3s on the 'sprint' and carries on.

Bling makes a valiant attempt to salvage a day in yellow but... Proper GC Riders vs Hilly Sprinters only has one result

    2 to go,
As LR says, Rog has just gone. Everyone else behind just looking at each other

    1.5 to go
Ok, now some response from Jai Hindley

MM trying to arrange something but no one wants to work with him.

    1 to go

Roglic takes 13 s on the road.

They did pull back a chunk of time. Quite a lot of bonuses around. 13s to Roglic

MM totally sat up, or had a problem...has lost over 2 mins in the last km

That was impressive by Rog. From a mental POV as much as anything.

Looked like nobody else believed they could stay with him.

No, although the on-screen times suggest that they did claw back quite a bit of the gap he'd gained at one point. I don't think he went at the wrong point - he needed to go somewhere he could snap the elastic quickly, and it gave him the intermediate - but it felt like it was further out than perhaps suited him.
