I always thought the Kask helmet, Sky kit and weird neck made Froome the most xenomorph of all riders.

Rohan Dennis has the early lead but with Pat Bevin only 3" behind, he not a shoe in FTW.

This TT should suit Matthews down to the ground.

    Roglic is in decline. :p

Problem with this is because it's all the sprinters, few of the 'last on the road' can be bothered.

MM giving it the old college try

    Stage 4

    It gets Lumpy!

    https://www.paris-nice.fr/

We go past Macon, wine centre and one of Pa raver's go to 'Party Wines'. Try the Louis Jadot Macon-Villages. An excellent example of Burgandy Whites. Burgandy is also a great cycling destination. Small local campsites surrounded by vines and a network of gravel/road paths meandering between villages who give their names to super spendy bottles of wine. Hills are avoidable if necessary and even so are usually manageable by even the worst of climbers (ahem). A great pit stop on the way down to the sun (assuming there are still people who pile everything they own into a Volvo 240 and get the late night ferry over on Friday night after school/work)

    Much appreciated post, DD.

Ah yes, good old Louis's labels are instantly recognisable to the average wine drinker.

Ah nice. Few years back, 2016 prob, had a couple of weeks with the bikes in Burgundy, stayed in Macon, Chalon, Meursault then hopped over to Besancon. Good cycling, good weather, good food, good wine, good times.

Off topic - it would appear the weather has dampened peoples desire to do Customs Declarations so all's quiet for me. The Healthy Aging Tour is on GCN at 11. 3 days of racing in NL could be rather fun this week 🌧🌪🌧

Edit - today appears to be 28 laps of a race track today. Sod that...

Edit edit - worth catching the last 2km of that. Bit of fun. Not a metre more mind you...

I can't recall quite such a punishing stage turning up as early as this in Paris-Nice.
They actually tackle the finishing climb twice by the looks and the first time around it isn't even catagorised.
That would make it 8 first or second cat climbs.

I think it's a spur off the circuit, so they only do it once to the finish line. They go half way up it the first time, and there's a sprint point there (Col de Durbize)

Soren Kragh Andersen didn't fancy it. Out of the race with a sore back.

BOTD: Perez, Bernard, Naesen, Rojas, Riesebeek, and that man Doubey.

Yeah, I also took one look at the Women's aging race and thought: "More live race coverage isn't the answer, if they are going to have to race courses like this."
Could not have come up with a more incredibly dull circuit if they tried.
