A great way to discover new tunes. Spotify's alright with it's suggestions but it all ends up too similar. Radio is still an absolutely fantastic format for discovering good new music.rick_chasey said:

All the advantages of the actual radio show with none of the disadvantages of having to listen to it live.
Anyway, enjoy listening to stuff you don't want to be listening to.
The queen better not die when we're still in lockdown - waste of a good bank holiday.0 -
Exactly - and a 99 yr old with a number of health issues who'd recently spent a month in hospital.orraloon said:Think Spotify is going to experience a surge today.
Don't really get the logic of BBC putting on this blanket, all channels the same. They do realise there are other options, they don't hold a monopoly over what dUK residents can listen to?
And this is a 99yo. Not exactly a shock to our world.
Probably was released so he could die at home in peace once they knew he was on his way out.0 -

Skip the chat, straight into the songs, if one is really awful you can skip through the rest of it to the next one etc.0 -
He was old, his body was worn out... he had a good life, Amen.
For a couple of days it won't be worth bothering with the news on TV, which is annoyingleft the forum March 20230 -
Not a wild fan of the Royals but it's quite interesting from a historical point of view. When the Queen goes it will be an end of an era in the most literal sense0

I've just got home to discover the radio problem with some disbelief, are we really still that backward as a nation? I remember being p1ssed off when Diana died they postponed the start of the local football leagues by a weekend, we just really wanted a game of football after the summer break and had no interest in her passing at all. It was only because the league was run by the generation of oldies who really believed in that nonsense of Queen and country.0

6Music often on as background, v wide range of music played, get to hear stuff and think that's good, stuff I wouldn't access any other way. No ads either, can't stand the commercial stations. Sure, some stuff think nah that's pants but good outweighs bad.rick_chasey said:

A good 95% of it was forgettable sh!te. Very much a throw-enough-sh!t-at-the-wall attitude to "new music".
Anyway, here's a joke you oldies will like.

The Dutch royal family have expressed their deep sadness at the news of the death of Britain’s prince Philip, two months ahead of his 100th birthday.
The prince, who married the then-princess Elizabeth in 1947, ‘passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle,’ Buckingham Palace said on Friday.
‘We remember HRH Prince Philip with great respect,’ king Willem-Alexander, queen Maxima and former queen Beatrix said in a joint statement.
‘Throughout his long life, he committed himself with dedication to the British people and to his many duties and responsibilities,’ the statement said. ‘His lively personality never ceased to leave an unforgettable impression. Our deepest and most heartfelt sympathy goes out to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth and all the members of the Royal Family.’:
It's good to see the Dutch royal family pass on their condolences and show a bit of Class!0 -

I know nothing of the man first hand but my brother spent 10 days as part of the royal entourage for the Kuala Lumpar commonwealth games and said Prince Philip was a genuinely very funny man.
Apparently the whole world smells of fresh paint when you’re a royal.

Oh relax. Hyperbole is a well known rhetorical technique.
Not sure we need the entirety of the bbc to bin off programming for half a day for this, I have to say.0 -
