Tennis G.O.A.T?

Trouble is, he’s taken a position (ill-formed IMO) and he’s stuck with it. A shame, he’s a great player (irritating ball-bouncing aside) but as a person he’s a complete prat.Dorset_Boy said:Sounds like Novax won't get into the US either at present.
If he has half a brain he'll get vaccinated.
I wonder if his kids will ever have any vaccinations - MMR, polio, tetanus, etc?

Do you really think that someone who thinks positive thought can purify water has half a brain?Dorset_Boy said:Sounds like Novax won't get into the US either at present.

Poor little buggers can't even have a bread roll in case it interferes with Dad's positive energy.pinkbikini said:

More bad news for Novax as it looks like France are introducing a requirement for sports folk to be vaccinated if they wish to compete in France.1
-
They were reporting this morning that his vaccination status wouldn't prevent him playing there (which is ironic given the amount of rugby teams that haven't been allowed to play over there even if fully vaccinated in recent weeks).Dorset_Boy said:More bad news for Novax as it looks like France are introducing a requirement for sports folk to be vaccinated if they wish to compete in France.

From the BBC Rugby League page:
"New rules in France mean anyone wishing to enter sporting venues will have to be vaccinated against Covid-19.
The French government says exemptions will not be made for athletes who are based outside France."
I can't see how they can say Djokovic will be allowed to play, unless he's now resident?
EDIT: Scrap that, bit more digging provided the answer. The rules may of changed by the time of the French Open is what they're referring to.0 -

Winter sport is hit harder by covid surges. The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

Slovenia has one of the lowest vaccination rates in the EU, around 50%.

Wasn't expecting Raducanu to even win a point in Aus, so good on her for taking her first match.2

Yep, good stuff and Murray to win his match too.shirley_basso said:Wasn't expecting Raducanu to even win a point in Aus, so good on her for taking her first match.

Nadal moving surprisingly well after a long injury lay off. Two quick wins under his belt.Pinno, מלך אידיוט וחרא מכונאי1

That's good, It would be great to see him jump above Novac to 21 slams.seanoconn said:Nadal moving surprisingly well after a long injury lay off. Two quick wins under his belt.

I hear Novax has been appointed head coach of the England cricket team. Took Australia two weeks to get him out, which appealed greatly to the ECB.seanoconn said:Nobody watched the Australian Open final? Before the match I was leaning towards the current ATP finals champion Danil Medvedev. 20 games unbeaten, great record against other top ten players recently including Djokovic and full of confidence. But Djokovic was a different class.
Moving to 18 grand slams and closing the gap on the other big two, where do we stand on the G.O.A.T debate?
Roger Federer: A Brilliant shot maker, famed for his exciting attacking tennis, a gentleman on and off the court and the best grass court player in history. Unlikely to add to his tally of 20 grand slams due to his age and recent injuries. Losing the head to head battle against the other two but is 4 years older.
Rafa Nadal: The king of clay. Famed for his left handed top spin forehand and ability to get the ball back in play when all seems lost. Extremely awkward to play against with a determination and will to win like no other. Plays every game like a final.
Novak Djokovic: The best service returner in history and an incredible athlete seemingly able to contort and stretch his athletic frame into any shape to get racket on ball. A complete player with no discernible weakness. Least exciting of the big three and possibly the least likeable but winning the head to head against Nadal and Federer.
So who’s the G.O.A.T?5 -
Murray and Radacanu both in trouble. Could be a disappointing morning.0
-
Radacanu has a blister on her hand, apparently. She's doing okay in set 2, so far.0
-
Should be a Raducanu win, but the blister will almost certainly cost her the match.0
-
Isn't it odd for a pro tennis player to get a blister?0

The downside of using Fairy Liquid and having soft hands. 😉TheBigBean said:Isn't it odd for a pro tennis player to get a blister?

Maybe due to excessive sweat as it's a hot day?0

In other news, apparently Novax owns 80% of a Scandinavian company that is bringing to market a new therapy for Covid... interestingly it involves an injectionleft the forum March 20230

An example from the past. Yeah, it's odd, he does put a hell of a lot of top spin on, though. You'd think the skin would have toughed up. Coming back from a break?

It seems Raducanu had the blister for five days before the match and was unable to find a way to protect it. I guess a glove wouldn't work for some reason.0
-
Yes it does seem odd that tennis players don't wear gloves at least in situations like this. I've never seen it though so I guess there is a reason - though as we've seen in cycling sometimes the real reason is just tradition.[Castle Donington Ladies FC - going up in '22]0
-
I imagine the glove will do the rubbing - although they do help in golf....0
-
It would hold in place the protection though.shirley_basso said:I imagine the glove will do the rubbing - although they do help in golf....
