‘If it’s a genuine injury’ he’s putting in a contact lens FFS0

High tackle on the England player goes unnoticed. That’s happened a lot in both games today.0

Mac Hanson over Watson's shoulders with both arms there, but scrum Ireland.....0

Yep, there have been a few in this game and the Wales match that were allowed to go for some reason. It was one of the things they clamped down hard on last season. Try scored from the scrum too. Poor work by the TMO not to pick that up as it was so obvious. Commentators missed it too unsurprisinglyDorset_Boy said:Mac Hanson over Watson's shoulders with both arms there, but scrum Ireland.....

And results in 7 points for ireland.
Peyper really isn't fit for purpose, but no surprise being a Saffa ref.0 -
It’s given Ireland the breathing space to start playing now as well.0

Looks like the Irish players managed to injure their try scorer when celebrating0

Forward pass for the 3rd?
I guess it depends on who you support.
Aparently a Sexton hit to a hit missed a few minutes ago.0 -
Finally Ireland picked up for side entry at the ruck, something they specialise in!0
-
Forward passes seem to just be the norm these days. You have to make a very obvious hand movement forward to get called.
England not giving up and pick up a try.0 -
Not the way Sexton would like to wrap up his 6 Nations career.0
-
That one’s harsh too, drove him back and the other players back tipped him over.0
-
Peyper delighted to give Willis a yellow and so Ireland another try.0

Sure a lot of work to do to undo the disaster of Eddie over the last couple of years.ddraver said:When the backs join in a line out maul they re pretty much admitting that they don't back themselves to score.
England still in a deep dark hole.0 -
My last words on the tournament.
The table doesn't lie.The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.Veronese68 wrote:PB is the most sensible person on here.0 -
Shame Italy couldn't finish off one win - think they deserved it this year.
Two top teams head and shoulders better than the rest.2 -
Anyway, back to real rugby for the next few weeks and this looks very good at the moment. Ridiculously though, despite the season starting in September there are still 11 league games and at least a cup semi-final to play over the next 8 weeks. The WRU displaying their usual planning skills and also leave it to clubs to sort out any postponed fixtures between themselves.

Steward's red card has been rescinded.
Well thank you Jaco Peyper!

This was probably worse, just a penalty.

Irrespective of views on the incident this feels like a bad decision. Peyper and the other officials watched the footage, went through the protocols as set out by the governing body and came to the conclusion there was no mitigation that could be applied with the default being a red card. They can't be expected to enforce this protocol if they then get over-ruled on appeal. The powers that be need to decide if they really are going for zero tolerance on this sort of thing.Dorset_Boy said:Steward's red card has been rescinded.

But they applied the protocols incorrectly.
There was clear mitigation but Pyper ignored it. That is why it was downgraded.
Sudden and late change of height, plus Steward was passive.
Both those would make it no worse than yellow if you didn't believe it to be a rugby incident (which is what it was).

Was it deemed a shoulder charge? Otherwise I can't see why the guidance comes into play. It certainly wasn’t a tackle of any kind.Dorset_Boy said:But they applied the protocols incorrectly.

And Peyper missed this head on head at the ruck (Irish head to Ludlum's head):

108-12 win for Pooler today. That’s 201 points scored in the last 2 league matches with 15 conceded. That’s the reality of ring-fencing the league above and denying promotion for the last 6 or 7 seasons, no good for anyone but should finally change at the end of this season.0

Cup final time for Pontypool at the Principality Stadium tomorrow. It’s a stupid format though, each division has its own cup now so no ‘giant killing’ chances. Premiership, Championship and Division 1 finals one after the other for £10 so good value but will only watch the Pooler match. It’s going to feel very empty with maybe 5-6,000 people in a 75,000 stadium but I intend to make the most of it.0

In other Welsh rugby news Llanelli (club side) have been unable to put a team out today.
The WRU should really be looking at relegating them to the bottom of the league but no doubt they’ll bottle it and have them in the new reduced top league they keep talking about trying to bring in, they’ve always been a favourite despite the ‘west is best’ mantra being consistently disproved.0
