Sad truth is it doesn’t matter who is selected, simply the England players are not at the same level as the French/Irish or Scottish players.0
-
Very even first half at Murrayfield but Ireland too strong in the seond.0
-
Positive start by Wales. Rewarded for turning down 3 kickable penalties. Thought there may have been offside in the maul just before it went wide. All the work undone with poor tackling though.0
-
Commentary slightly ahead of the pictures for the second week running which gets a bit annoying0
-
Possibly Wales best rugby of the tournament in this first half but the French defender is too good for them and they are far more clinical when they get the ball.
Thought the ref was too lenient when Wales had France under pressure in the opening minutes. Pretty sure he would have give a yellow for the final advantage before Wales scored so he should still have given it when they did score.0 -
No 6 nations or Tour de France in Paris next year due to the Olympics0
-
No 6 Nations is odd, it’s months before the Games.0
-
Wales trying to play but getting completely outclassed.0
-
Dillon Lewis 50 caps? It’s amazing how quickly players rack them up these days, it only feels like he’s been around a couple of years.0
-
Penaud going full footballer. Should have been penalised for that.0
-
Fair play to Wales, I thought they were going to capitulate like England last week early in the second half. Definitely their best performance but miles away from the top teams. Best games in a long time for many of the Welsh players including Biggar, North and Tipuric.
Shaun Edwards will be very annoyed with his team conceding 4 tries.0 -
It was a really cheap shot by the Welsh player, but agree an over reaction. Neither action has a place in the game.Pross said:Penaud going full footballer. Should have been penalised for that.

I heard on commentary that England are forcing Ireland into making unforced errors.0

No way is that red. What is someone 6' 5" supposed to do in such circumstances when the Irish player has led with his head?
Guaranteed GS gifted .0 -
You argued exactly the opposite the other week. It was harsh and I’m not sure what else he could do, he turned away instinctively when he realised he wasn’t going to compete but as the ref clearly explained he needed to try to get lower. It’s a clear red when following the protocol, they were looking for mitigation but couldn’t find any. I understand the reason for the rule and why it is needed but there needs to be more leeway. Seeing loads of slow motion replays doesn’t help with a sensible decision though.Dorset_Boy said:No way is that red. I think whatever he'd done would have resulted in a card. No way he could have made a tackle that wasn't on the attacker's head.0

Could have been yellow though. The ref explained his decision quite simply. IIRC "You had time to turn your shoulder into the tackle.". Tbh, natural instinctive reaction.kingstongraham said:I think whatever he'd done would have resulted in a card. No way he could have made a tackle that wasn't on the attacker's head.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.Veronese68 wrote:PB is the most sensible person on here.0 -
Farrell needs to learn how to speak to referees. Pretty much every other captain can question decisions politely, he just sounds like a petulant child. There was one early in the game where he felt there was a knock on (I agreed) but the ref said he was happy, a few seconds later he was still whinging and said something like “that’s a knock on in any year”. He’s not going to get the marginal decisions if he speaks to referees in that way.0

He was expecting a fly hack, then realised that the Irish player had chaged to try to pick it up. You cannot get from starting to jump to block the kick to a tackle position is a miili second. He was clearly bracing for impact to protect himself. And the Irish player led with his head.
Plenty to mitigate if the officials were insistent there was foul play.
As ITV said at HT, none of the panel called anything other than a rugby incident initially.
Those collisions are not what the protocols are about.0 -
England looked like they’d done their homework whereas Ireland looked like they felt all they had to do was turned up and collect their Grand Slam. The card has probably killed what was a good contest but with this head contact rules it could easily be 14 a side at some point.0
-
If he predicted a fly hack like whoever it was (BOD?) said at half time from that minute foot movement then his reflexes were definitely up to lowering his height. Jumping didn’t do any favours either.Dorset_Boy said:He was expecting a fly hack, then realised that the Irish player had chaged to try to pick it up. It becomes a passive collision because there is no forward move from the defender.
It was just terrible officiating.
But then it is Jaco Peyper.......0 -
Ireland really aren’t looking like ‘the best team in the world’ at the moment. You can’t even tell they have a man advantage. They had a few decent phases but not exactly tearing it up.0

FFS, Willis has had that blood injury since the first few minutes of the game and they decide to stop the game to treat it now.0
