The NZ v England women's (Union) World Cup final was a hell of a game . . . surprised it's not been mentioned here . . . anyone watch it?

  • Listened on the radio, as incidental background noise but it ended up being riveting listening, great game. From a neutral.

Unfortunately, while the local farmer was hedge trimming, he managed to "trim" the villages broadband exchange too so we've been ariel TV only all week...hence the RL

    Oh dear Wales :D
They do like to be the first UK team to lose to Tier 2 rugby nations!

What the hell happened? I was watching until just before half time when I had to board my flight and it looked comfortable. Adams had just had his try disallowed but Wales looked likely to score a few more then I landed to see they hadn’t scored a single point afterwards.

I’m sure the WRU will solve the problem by messing around with the league structure below the Regions which is their usual answer to the obvious structural issues the game has here.

Looks like the Twickenham Events team have got the memo and gone for the lowest common denominator fire and pumping bass line approach to warm up this time.

    Rightly so, 'bout time

Two terrible decisions by Reynard, one results in second NZ try.

ABs playing at a pace or 5 above England atm though.

I only watched the 2nd half. They were scrummaged off the park, totally lost the aerial battle until Halfpenny came on later in the half. Missing Biggar in that area I’m afraid. Not really seeing Rees-Zammit as a fullback at the moment.
    Score line flattered Wales.

Just been looking at the English leagues as I don’t follow them very closely. Who the heck are Ealing Trailfinders and will they get promoted if the stay top of the Championship given the loss of two Premiership teams?

They've been top of the championship several times but not gone up because they don't have a stadium.

Interesting to see what will happen next year now...

Should have been a PT and second yellow for NZ there. diving in off feet from side to prevent grounding.
But Reynard has been as poor as England!

    England take the draw.
Dead, buried, outclassed, out paced, out played for 70 minutes.
    Will Stuart take a bow!

England's first 5 minutes was dreadful. Combination of JvP and the ref having a mare.

ABs just played a great pace, which stretched England.

Are there any sides playing with consistency in world rugby at the moment? Ireland maybe?
  • Didn't see that coming. NZ made no mistakes for the first hour at least.

France are the team to beat IMO. The French have always produced fabulous players but lacked the mentality to turn the SH teams over on a regular basis.

This current team look mentally solid, evidenced by the way they closed out tight games against Aus and SA. Can't see past them for the WC next year.

France & Ireland but NZ are now undefeated in 7 and won the Rugby Championship having been woeful during the summer internationals and first few RC matches.

Yer, I'd say France, Ireland, NZ & SA are all...erm... favourites....

France v Ireland next year will be a massive game.

Probably not, but the glass half full version is that the top 8 or so teams are all on a remarkably similar level and can beat each other at any time.

It's much better to watch an autumn international genuinely not knowing who is going to win. To be honest it's the first time in my life when we're all thinking, "well, we know Aus/SA/NZ are going to win, the question is what counts as a moral victory for us..."

The downside is that your or our team doesn't win as much.

Nice to see empty seats at the Principality for the WRU topping up the bank balance challenge match.

What a dreadful state the pitch is in again!
I think they cut it too short.
