Marc Hirschi takes the Queen stage of Luxembourg while Tibault Pinot appeared to have taken up a temporary DQS contract by towing Almeida up the finishing climb for the last km and a half and leading him out for the sprint.

No wonder the French win so few big races.

I started watching but gave up after 15 minutes of CK and I don't know if I've just watched too much racing this year but I just couldn't get interested
C'mon Sir Prossalot, two to go. Look alive! World Championship road race and Paris-Roubaix!!!!

Will hopefully be watching both those but the smaller ones are just too much for me now.

I've come to the same conclusion. It's not too much racing, it's too much Kirby and his Groundhog day commentary, making new races seem like repeats.

Toscana was your go to race yesterday: Hatch and Lloyd. Lots of informative and diverse tidbits delivered with relaxed clarity.

Does Colbrelli's European Champion's jersey now take precedence over his Italian Champion's one or can he pick and choose between them? Presumably he'll need a new bike to go with the Euro jersey too. Have to say the Merida in Italian colours was pretty smart.

I believe a continental champions jersey takes precedence over a national jersey which is a shame as I like seeing the Italian national jersey in a race. Maybe he'll win the Worlds as well.

A 1 mile prologue TT?!! FFS.

It's time Froome hung his wheels up.

The worlds this year could be very good. Ostensibly a classic classic. JA, WvA, MvdP and Colbrelli in the mix.

If Colbrelli wins, he could wear a combined jersey which would look like... Tartan.

Your failure to mention any Vikings is most distressing. You are now on my list.

Today is the start of a very busy few days before the Worlds.
    GCN/Eurosport have it all live.

Besides the Queen stage of Luxembourg, the Italian Autumn series begins with the Giro della Toscana, It's up to Belgium next, for the GP Wallonie and finally, the Tour of Slovakia kicks off.
Tomorrow, it's naother Italian semi: the Coppa Sabatini and the two stage races.

Just put on Coppa Sabatini on the Eurosport player and it’s showing motor cycling.

    Same as Toscana yesterday.
    It's actually the wrong link.
    It started at 2pm.

  • I'm puzzled why have they been so convinced that the break is going to make it in Luxembourg?
  • Modolo takes his first win for 3.5 years
  • Well, well, well, Sacha Modolo wins a bike race.
That's been a long, long time coming.

    Commentary today was absolutely abject.
40kms of nothing but the stubborn repetition of "the breakaway will take it", on repeat, every couple of minutes.
    Which, of course, they didn't.

  • And Valgren takes another. Two wins in two days after three years with no wins.

Should be good for another 3 or 4 pages on the Viking thread.

Aside EF playing the exact same 1-2 as yesterday, there were some really strange goings on during that final lap.
Looked like Moscon was riding for a Bahrain contract and what was Cobrelli doing at the end?

No idea what Moscon was doing - I assumed he was riding for any Italian to win. Definitely wasn't doing much for his own chances, especially to stay on the front so long after it was clear they weren't getting caught.

I think Colbrelli just assumed he could do Valgren in the sprint, went long and then didn't have it when Valgren was still there.

Moscon was probably thinking about how best he prepares for the Worlds.

We'd know for definite if he'd got a tow back to the hotel by the DS.

Just watched the last 40km of Championship of Flanders - Philipsen from Groenewegen in a confused sprint finish. Another Alpecin Fenix tick.

In the mix post race, I'm sure I clocked this spectator wheeling his bike suddenly recognise Groenewegen going past in the crowd, looked like he def swore, or even spat after him. Rather unnecessary behaviour.

im enjoying the Tour of Slovakia so far. Kosice is a great little town that's well worth a visit, only been once but memories flooded back when I saw it on TV.

Home win is still eluding Sagan but he's looking on better form than during the European Championships

Team DSM Devo's Leo Hayter, younger brother of Ethan, won the u23 Liege-Bastogne-Liege today. Was in a strong break from a long way out, whittled it down to two other riders, one from Jumbo-Visma, one from Axeon, then attacked on La Redoute to solo the last 14 kms to the line.

He had a tough time of it early this year, but after a decent ride with the WT squad at the Tour of Norway, had been targeting this race.

Re win eluding Sagan, I thought Friday's Slovakia stage interesting in comparison with the Euro RR - coincidental it its same outcome, despite different choices.

In the latter, Evenepoel and Colbrelli were clear of a group with 10 km to go, and rather than drop back into the group and take his chances there, Evenepoel ploughed on, towing Colbrelli, and then lost the sprint to Colbrelli.

In Slovakia Sagan and Steimle were clear of a group with 10 km to go, with Sagan towing Steimle, but unlike Evenepoel, Sagan decided to ease off and let the following group catch them. In the group sprint then, Steimle led for Hodeg, but with Sagan and 3 others having got inbetween. When the 3 others went down at a slippy patch on the final bend, Hodeg was hampered and lost complete contact with Steimle, while Sagan couldn't catch Steimle.

So strangely enough, the result was the same as at the Euro – the one leading 10 km out finished second, and the one being towed 10 km out won.
  • Last stage win in Slovakia goes to Itamar Einhorn of Israel (Start-Up Nation), Sagan wins the GC.

Is that the first international pro win by an Israeli man?

I looked at that earlier. He won a 1.2 race in Poland earlier this season, if that counts

decent stage race and glad Sagan won overall but still missed out on the stage win he wanted. He's coming into form just before Worlds and Roubaix though, but then so are several other riders.

Looking back at the TV coverage I dont think they showed off the country for the ourists as much as they could have. One of the sponsors was Go Slovakia, but when they went through Vysoky Tatry there was almost no coverage of the scenery. They did the climb to Strabsky Pleso ( whihc I thnk ive spelled wrong) and only showed the riders on the stage.

The same was true of other areas, they could have really showed off more, and seems they didnt put much info in the road book for the commentators to read off as they went through places, or showed sights off.

I know. I was pointing out the inaccuracy in the Cyclingtips article. It would be quite challenging to put on a race in the Netherlands that took in cobbled sections used in Paris-Roubaix.
