    Good win again.
Cav looked concerned trying to find team mates.

The third time in his career that he's won on three consecutive days. (Tour 2013 Tour of Qatar - 4 days in a row and 2008 Tour of Ireland)

Sure cav was using his head to barge himself some space a couple of times in the last km.

    Commentary dreadful obvs.

Crashes on both sides into the terrible barriers.

Looks as if an Alpecin rider clipped a wheel and started the pile up.
Kirby going on about the barriers failing to support a dozen riders smashing into them all at once.
They aren't made of concrete for a reason, Carlton.

Barriers seemed to collapse again, which has to be a concern. Riders going down simultaneously on both sides of the road, too - there wasn't just one crash but a load of ricochets. Interesting to see Cavendish not going anywhere until he'd found Jakobsen and checked he was okay (Jakobsen had peeled off to roll in well after everyone else, but I'm guessing it's not something that he'd have welcomed seeing).

Sprint itself was totally messy - feels like teams are starting to worry that they're just leading out Cavendish. Philipsen went waaay too early, but the speed with which Cavendish clawed back a three-length gap was impressive nonetheless.

Cav gets the hat trick but finish marred by a huge crash.

Brilliant! Apart from the crash of course.

Looked more like a tap than a butt though. He was very squeezed from both sides, at the exact point ck was telling us that Cav was in a great position (because he was looking at the wrong rider)

Hint for ck - to tell the difference between cav and any b&b rider, look for the yellow lidl logo on his arris.

Yeah just watched it - Kirby was calling the rider on Hodegs wheel as Cav when Cav was a few wheels back. It is a similar colour jersey I suppose...

Why do they have 5 lines in a row at the finish?? I imagine it's more obvious for the riders which the actual finish is as its under the arch, but a bit confusing for the viewer.

Cavendish referenced this in his interview, FWIW - Jakobsen apparently a bit shaken. I don't know if DQS deliberately put him with Cavendish for his first race back, but it's clearly something that's in Cavendish's mind as part of his responsibilities.

    Indeed.
Lucky that Fabio had peeled off with 3kms to go.
It's clearly going to be a while before he's ready for the home straight.

Re: the barriers. They didn't collapse like in Poland, but were pushed back.
I suspect the real difference being solid hoardings ( as with Jake Stewart) and material. Here the crash happened before the solid hoardings began.
Even so, the riders who hit them were propelled back into the bunch causing the mass pile up.
I don't think there is an absolute right answer.

Cav's interview was really interesting actually, he was relaxed and open. Funny when he couldn't remember what Alpecin were called properly this year

It's interesting to hear him go how he approached the sprint, knowing Mozzato has really good positioning but isn't that strong. And how he was marking Phillipsen.

Yeah, Cavendish seemed a bit peeved to have ended up behind him.

Tight finish in the women's Brabantse Pijl - Vollering taking it by the width of a rim after a three-way sprint from the six-woman escape.

Edit: Given to Winder on the photofinish!

Demi Vollering wins women's Brabantse Pijl. Break of 7 - Vollering narrowly won the sprint from Ruth Winder and Elisa Balsamo.

Edit: Scratch that! It's been given to Winder. Went to photo finish - bit weird. Even Winder said she thought Vollering won.

Demi Vollering wins The chipperiest of all chippers (IMO) in a bike throw over US Champ, Ruth Winder to open the Ardennes Season

    Edit - OR DOES SHE!!!

Edit Edit - (as above) Apparently not, although evidence on screen is totally unclear. Another 'celebrating too early' clip for youtube compilations (and likely the most exciting thing that will happen in Overijse today)

This was the photo finish. TV pictures made it look like Vollering won. Not sure where the actual line was. Vollering celebrated early and that cost her. When will riders learn?!

They've just shown the photofinish and it's ridiculously tight. Vollering lost it by celebrating milliseconds too early.

Somewhat comic interview with Demi, even in Dutch.

Suspect the mask hides a hell of an expression...

They seemed to do their job to me. They absorbed the impact and plonked the Alpecin back on to the road. He got up straight away. They are supposed to crumple a bit.

Getting a bit hairy in Valencianna as the rain begins to fall on the descent.
    Groups all over the place.

Just mentioned on Valencianna of news from Italy, where Nibali has been involved in a training accident and has fractured a wrist.

Worth noting that the women’s race had an extra hour of live coverage, compared to the men this afternoon.

That's a dead heat, why even bother separating them? I really can't see how they split that, they must have the same people who make some of the VAR offside decisions reviewing it.

Geniets looks in a bad way after a high speed pile up at Brabantse. Hope he recovers as he's been riding very well all season.

Pidcock has attacked to close to the two lead groups taking Trentin and WVA with him. Gap closing fast after Dunbar had done some earlier damage.

Didn't look good, but initially he seemed no more worse off than the others.
A few big names out of contention after that.
