Giro 2020 - Stage 20: Alba – Sestriere 190kms *Spoilers*

  • Commentators say that “all” Hinkley has to do is follow TGH. Any benefit to TGH if he and Dennis just swing to one side and make Hindley pull/work?

Not really as it cuts his margin to Kelderman.

He's probably better than Hindley in the TT, so has to work to distance Kelderman and at least reduce the number of direct opponents to one. Hindley will probably mug him for another four seconds, but that's the price he pays.

    Strange one given the TT.
Hindley either had to attack or go back and help. Sitting on achieves nothing today.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

Over a minute now to Kelderman. With the possibility of time bonuses as well you'd think the winner is going to definitely come from TGH or Hindley now.

Sprint bonus seconds at 7km to go?

    Edit: thanks Rob Hatch!
  • A minute and a half so Kelderman no longer a factor.
Hindley now has to gain some time before the ITT.

I fear for tgh, that Hindley is going to ride off in the last couple of km.

  • Thought Hindley visibly relaxed the other day once it was clear he was just being asked to sit on and take the stage if possible. Wonder what happens now the pressure comes back on?
  • I’d pull over. Ow and make JH go in front I think 🤔 but so much easier sat here than in a car or on a saddle
  • FWIW I think Hindley is capable of putting some time into TGH on this final climb...

Looks like Hindley is the stronger. Should go soon.

  • Does anybody still think that Hindley should have waited for Kelderman, other than the Dutchies and Ineos fans? :D

He could just sit up as well and let the others come back.

Presume Hindley needs to start the TT minimum of 20 seconds ahead of TGH? So would 5 seconds plus a time bonus on the line be enough

Dennis needs to sit there as long as possible now and hold off the Tao V Hindley one on one

It'd be annoying if Quickstep for some reason pull Kelderman back into contention.

If Hindley just sits there again he might regret his lack of aggression
