Taking it well .... Not sure I would even as a team mate .

  • Failed on two different bianchi bikes today.

There’s nothing wrong with the bikes. They are pretty much the Rolls Royce of the bike world. If the driver has a bad day, even the Rolls Royce can be beaten by a pile of junk.

What's the record for biggest age gap on the podium?

Valverde was turning pro when he was born ...nearly

Seems to suggest he could have pushed harder but then again he's being interviewed in a second language in the face of a massive disappointment.
  • Roglic didn’t have a bad day finishing 5th. Pogacar just had a ridiculous day and proved he has a stronger engine than everyone else in the race. Almost unbelievable to crush Dom by that much in a time trial. You saw a glimpse of that when he put out over 6.8 w/kg for -30 mins on one of the earlier climbs in the race and ripped apart the gc field.
  • Who'd have thought after stage 16 that the Ineos party in Paris was going to be a lot more fun than the Jumbo-Visma one?
Warning No formatter is installed for the format
  • Won the stage by the same time he lost on the crosswinds stage..... Per ITV anyway.

Can't believe I missed the crosswinds stage... :(

I'm sure there will be a fair few people ripping through the numbers, especially off the back of that killer stage a couple of days ago.

Don't let pogacar arrive at a decisive point of the race relatively fresh ?

I have said several times on here that I thought Pogacar looked like the strongest rider "mano a mano", but Roglic had a way stronger team.

I think this is why TTs are essential in a grand tour IMO. For balance.

Also timing has made it what it was. Day one prologue wouldn't have done this.
  • You have to agree with him too. It was other worldly from Pog, J.V. really dropped the ball as well, which may have flattered to deceive somewhat, but that in no way detracts from Pog’s performance.

    Is he not American?
It's always difficult to trust these numbers. If they were real, then one should legitimately ask questions... but they are probably just calculated on estimates... if it was 6.6 W/kg for 30 minutes then it would be legit

I think he was saying that he didn’t think he needed to get his balls out, until it was too late. I’d love to see his power figures when the team told him to get moving.

If Pog was on crack, I’ll be very very surprised, and hugely disappointed.

As a goalpost, Kämna posted his power data on strava for the TT. He finished in one hour 8 secs and did 367w average 370w NP and is probably a kg or two less than Pog who took about 7% less time. Who knows about the bikes or aero.

If it was up to me I would probably have 2 TTs, maybe with a very short prologue TT too...

Prologue TT just to seed the riders and give you a little hint or window into form. Not long enough to really affect the race.

Then one flat TT, but not too long. And one mountain TT like today (but probably a shorter flat section than what we had today).

I'd also have at least 2 big MTFs. And at least 2 really long stages. And I'd have a short mountainous day after the second rest day, that usually seems to put the cat amongst the pigeons.

How do I apply for Prudhomme's job?

Elated for Pogacar. Utterly insane performance this Tour. How do you decimate Ineos and JV basically on your own? Utterly magnificent. I'm truly blown away.

    Feel really sorry for Roglic.

If Roglic were French, he'd be set for life.
