Lift system is very good, not quite 3 Valleys level. Excellent amount of skiing. Can be bleak and cold as main resorts are above the tree line. Not sure it has the party atmosphere of some other resorts. Which village would you be based in?
Interesting eh? No plans to reduce capacity. Masks everywhere and any time apart from skiing...
Once you have assessed the ski lifts (applying the inverse correlation rule), altitude, snow records and the corona risk, another factor I would look at is the number of locals. I think a solid base of locals helps if you are there for a season. This broadly means that a big town is better than a twee village.
Where abouts? Could be interesting for the giro if winter arrives early.
Most of Switzerland seems to have enough to ski grassy meadows. No one is expecting it to last longer than tomorrow though.
(Makes me knee twinge just looking at it...)
Of course it only lasts a day or two at this time of year, but if that happens when the Giro hits the mountains..... and over the next month the mountain tops will start to get their winter blankets.
Can we put this thread to bed? It's getting in the way. Surely all this stuff is cake shop material or even a winter sports forum.
I used to go on Snowheads when I lived in Scotland (and thus skiied more frequently). I can't be bothered with two forums (fora?) though, too much effort.
Cake stop's got its own clique of posters I don't recognise and in jokes etc., cba with that either...

Stage 17 of the tour it is then for skiing discussion.
I don't care about the skiing stuff, but please don't change the thread title. These threads stand as live commentary of stages and sometimes we might want to look back on them. And this was the first time Col de la Loze was used.

Agreed.
“Road racing was over and the UCI had banned my riding positions on the track, so it was like ‘Jings, crivvens, help ma Boab, what do I do now? I know, I’ll go away and be depressed for 10 years’.”

But only for 5 months at 4 days/week.
I'm really not any worse off that when I had a "proper" job. Some bloody how, rent is actually less than in The Netherlands!

Might be quiet this season depending on corona.

I am not sure. You have no chance.
