  • Netherlands recover to post a total they'll hope to defend against SA. Need early wickets though.

Dutt faced 9 balls and scored 3 sixes.

SA 43-3 after 11 overs. Game is very much on.

    Make that 44-4.

Netherlands have SA 44-4 chasing 246... Could be interesting!

Brilliant performance by Netherlands really, they managed to get from 82-5 to 140-7 and then 245-8, which is some recovery!

    SA 109-6...

South Africa need over 7.5 an over now

Could have done with taking that catch and getting rid of the last batter, but Netherlands still well on top.

If they can pick up Miller soon they're in the box seat

The rate was going up anyway, but wow
  • 100 runs needed in 10 overs with 2 wickets remaining - looks like Netherlands have this!
  • One wicket to go..

  • 49 runs needed from 1 over.
This is an even bigger shock than Afghanistan beating England

Checked out the highlights, a result the tournament needed. But where are the crowds?

As for England...are we relying on Stokes once again to bring things to life? That poor mans back will be permanently damaged from carrying the team all these times.

More concerned about the form of Woakes than absence of Stokes at the moment.
For a bowler who had a cracking summer he's been a liability in this WC so far.

Compare his record home vs away.

Taking him was as stupid as not picking him in the summer

NZ wobbling a little. From 109-1 to 110-4

Started well with a wicket in the first over.

    But.....

Rashid still sat on the loo by all accounts and Topley has knackered his finger. The bowling attack is looking depleted already.

At the risk of being made to look a mug later on I have to say England aren't going to win this tournament, they just look too out of sorts as a unit.
  • Dunno what’s gone wrong but England have completely lost their way.
    This is embarrassing: total humiliation

To paraphrase an old statement. "Can't Bat, can't bowl, can field a bit"

And I'm being generous on the fielding bit

Well it was a fun last 30 minutes or so. The previous several hours? Not so much

They were up with the scoring rate, all they needed was another 15 batsmen.

  • Turned it on, saw the target, England were 26-2 or something, it was already lost, then next time I looked, 100-8 and the TV was showing a list of "biggest ever world cup defeats". Not what you want to see really.

That was nice, at one stage I was expecting a losing margin over 300!

Don't know how much is to do with illness as Rashid looked very poorly. Bowling first was likely a mistake in that heat - make the other side suffer. Especially if half of your guys aren't feeling great.

Netherlands managed to run SL much closer, although it never really looked like they might have it, it was an actual game of cricket. Wouldn't trust England to beat either of them at the moment!

Pakistan have been almost as poor as England.

I get the feeling that they'll massively improve when they do play us though.

This is a better start. Positivity. Let's hope that we can retain some wickets and go hard towards the end.
