Or not.

So, first real go on the forum on mobile: quite apart from the dreadful, clunky formatting (I'm such a fan of orange text on an orange background):
- why no preview button? Doubly annoying when they've changed everything so much and you haven't got a clue how your post is going to come out
- no URL insert either: you can paste in a link but not, for example, apply it to specific display text. I presume you can do it with HTML, but I really CBA with all that, especially on mobile.
Yet another fail.0 -
Seems to have changed during the day...
Have to say I don’t mind it all that much1 -
How do I see 'My Posts' like I could on the old forum? I can only see topics I've started, not those that I've contributed to.0

Thanks. The links take me to the post that I made though, and not the new posts since the last time I visited.david7m said:

I guess there are two use cases, one to see my actual post, one to stay across a thread and review new posts. The method you suggested does the first use case, but not the second.0 -
Simply don't like it at all, been on half a dozen times and find it very frustrating and simply makes me feel like I can't be bothered. If I look again it will probably be for a quick look [initially] to see if the format has changed. If it's the same I won't bother going any further. Shame0

'Forum home' top left, scroll down to bottom, select 'recent discussions'.theboyfold said:

So, one valid justification for a new platform might be better anti-spam....0
-
But the rest of the forum falls to shit. It is really awful.0

And where the hell is my user name.? Who said I wanted my email ID to be printed across the forum.0

I think you might have been 'whooshed' there Oli... 😊oli_admin said:

You can change it if you follow the instructions on the other thread.mbrads said:And where the hell is my user name.? Who said I wanted my email ID to be printed across the forum.
That said, using an email as the default is poor form.0 -
Seeing a lot of this sort of thing - big grey box at the head of posts:
- usually disappears on refresh
- often >1000px height.
- may just be at work with some element blocked? It sometimes does it with posts that I post which certainly don't have any strange content.0 -
Time to install some sort of s0ftware which will deal with the intrusive 4ds on my phone and tablet......0

I'm sort of getting used to it but:
Posts and posting is a bit cluttered.
Getting to a specific area of the forum is a bit long winded.
It's more Microsoft than Apple - it's not very intuitive.
There should be a way of changing the back ground colour so that it doesn't seem like you are scrawling on the inside of an empty (but well lit) fridge with a fine marker pen.
...and a 'Reply' icon.seanoconn - gruagach craic!2 -
What a mess, I hate it.
I was joe2008, since, yep, 2008, until now I need an email address from a place I worked 10 years ago to log in.0 -
Thanks, but I'm not bothered, anyway I probably won't be around much unless you improve this a lot, it hurts my eyes right now.oli_admin said:

How do the like / dislike buttons work?, they just seem to be for decoration. Nothing I've seen shows them actually do anything?
Quiet disappointing that you can't see what people think by a number of likes/dislikesAll lies and jest..still a man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest....1 -
ahh I see, but just because 5 people dislike something doesn't mean it should in essence be censored/deleted/disabled or otherwise hidden
Like
A like is a general approval of a post.
If you like a post it’ll add 1 to a post’s individual score. Enough up votes could mean that a post or topic ends up in a (currently forthcoming) curated area of the site.
Dislike
A dislike is a general disapproval of a post. Should a post receive five dislikes then it will automatically be ‘buried’ meaning it will require a user to click on the content directly to reveal it.All lies and jest..still a man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest....-1 -
If you look at your post there is a dislike. What you are supposed to do is like or dislike other people’s posts.
On other forums threads degenerate in to “ Who disliked my post”0 -
We have more than 5 trolls to press dislike0
-
Perhaps you should weight an individuals dislike with the number of likes they have .... ;oli_admin said:

Oh - and I've added some suggestions about whitespace, thread partitioning and screen size in another thread - which I now see you've seen .
It's like all "new things" initially you're like a dazed rabbit - but you get used to it.
Unfortunately, the colour scheme makes most of us very dazed (and I'm not unaccustomed to website development)

you're most welcome - I'll pop the invoice for the consulting advice in the post ...1

why not delete the dislike button and keep the like, that way it will keep it more civil/positive?All lies and jest..still a man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest....0

Yeah, doesn't work in the same way that it used to.david7m said:

I used to click on 'My Posts' (I think. I remember the URL ended with ego_search) and I used to be able to see all the posts that I had contributed to, not just the ones I started, or my posts on other threads. From there I could see if they had new posts and I could jump to the new posts.
I don't have that functionality any more. It was the first page I used to visit all the time, and it's much harder to work around the website now. It's not intuitive at all, it's laid out in contradiction with how people read pages. The text is awful, the colour scheme isn't friendly at all. I've hardly been here the last few days as it's just an awful user experience now.0 -
Oli Oli Oli, Ol Ol Ol................ geddit??
Anyway, you used to get topic reply notifications for a thread, now you get a notification for every new post. Can you set the preferences to the former rather than the latter?seanoconn - gruagach craic!0 -
+1 on this - get too many notifications, to the point where I will have to unsubscribe busy topics because I cant deal with what is effectively spam due to the sheer number of emails. Used to email for the first post then leave me alone until I had visited the thread and caught up.pinno said:Oli Oli Oli, Ol Ol Ol................ geddit??

I'm still unable to use my old username and have no reply to my email that you requested.
It's now showing my email username and all my post history has now gone.0
