Today's coping mechanism is having him on mute while listening to the excellent Glastonbury playlists on BBC Sounds1

I don't know why there's three feeds, one with adverts and English comms, the "Ad free" stream, where you can choose English, Danish or Dutch and "Multi Audio", where you get English, German or Ambient Sound with no ads.
I'm on Ambient Sound at the mo.0 -
Yeah, I'm on the French commentary. I know just enough to follow what's going on but not enough that they are annoying.0
-
I wonder who opts for the ads version?0

The GCN race pass is annoying me at the moment. Until today I could only have a french language show. This morning was the same initially but then mysteriously is now fixed. This is on my firestick. But then I get an advert for Northwave shoes popping up in the middle that I couldn’t get rid of until I came out of the app then went back in0

Anyone used the GCN+ App on a Sony TV running Google TV successfully?
The app loads but I can't navigate - other than to select a race. Which would be fine except the commentary is in French and I can't seem to navigate to the sidebar to change it...0 -
I had the same with the ES on my Sony/Android in fact I couldn't even select the sport. I solved it my installing a TV remote app on my phone (Remote control for Sony TV). The alternative was just to cast it from the app on my phonedish_dash said:Anyone used the GCN+ App on a Sony TV running Google TV successfully?

Ok, that's helpful. Will try that. Thank yougrenw said:

I just got a smart TV today that uses an LG oled panel. It uses LG's smart connectivity and has access to chromecast etc. and an app store. I can't find the GCN+ app though. Does anyone know if it's possible to install it via some service?
I could mirror my iMac via Airplay to the TV and switch on racing on the iMac and watch it on the TV, but that seems like such an inelegant solution. I'd love to just be able to install the GCN+ app on the TV or log into the website (like my iMac) and watch the races from my TV alone.
I don't have any subscription service (yet) like Amazon Prime, Netflix (unlikely to help here), Disney+ or Apple TV etc.
Only have a 1 month subscription to GCN+. My 1 year sub ran out in August. Will wait for the new season to renew GCN+. I'm hoping to be able to get another 19,99€ deal.PTP Champion 2019, 2022 & 20230 -
I chromecast from my phone to my LG.
I haven’t discovered the gcn app on LG1 -
There isn't even the eurosport app on LG.

Smart 🤔 TVs? I have a Samsung c. 2014 and a (not so smart) LG c. 2013.
Restricted updating and large gaps in app availability, inc Eurosport. Currently is iPad app -> via old apple TV unit -> TV. Given rel costs, in future if/when need replacing I think I'd go dumb screen plus whichever casting / streaming plug-in offers best value and future proofing.0 -
I've been waiting for Eurosport player to be available for £20 instead of £40. Thought I would check again today. Now it is £60 as part of Discovery+.0
-
Keep watching for deals. One can renew / extend part way through current 12 month one effective at the end date, add another 12 months on for discounted price. I did so last November.0
-
Looks like the future is going to be Discovery+ for current Eurosport Player, GCN for cycling only0
-
Thanks for all the replies. I'll try to find another solution. Seemingly there is a GCN+ app on Android TV and Amazon Fire TV. Not sure how much that helps me, but I'll try to figure it out.PTP Champion 2019, 2022 & 20230

I'm guessing discovery will launch a new app with less functionality than Eurosport player. But it will have some extra channels that the eurosport subscribers won't watch.0

I use the app on a FireTV stick as my LG TV doesn't support an app, it works fine.m.r.m. said:Thanks for all the replies. I'll try to find another solution. Seemingly there is a GCN+ app on Android TV and Amazon Fire TV. Not sure how much that helps me, but I'll try to figure it out.

Just had a look at Discovery+....oh dear....
Under "Factual" is a series called "Alien Encounters Declassified". That pretty much sums it up1 -
You don't think there is a possibility that aliens exist?JimD666 said:Just had a look at Discovery+....oh dear....

Just checked the Eurosport Account, It's still set to renew at £40 in Feb22. If that doesn't change then all well and good, if it goes up to £60 without adding value (the other channels don't too me) then will probably bin it.0
-
It does look like Eurosport player will be replaced.0
-
Is £60 per year / £5 per month really that much to pay even if you just watch the cycling?0
-
It is when you already have Eurosport on TV, but find it useful to have the app just in case. Also, the app is quite good. I particularly like being able to to pick any programme from the schedule and watch it without spoilers.Pross said:Is £60 per year / £5 per month really that much to pay even if you just watch the cycling?

More than £5 a month if you only want the road cycling. Only really 8 months of racing.Pross said:Is £60 per year / £5 per month really that much to pay even if you just watch the cycling?
And again, for me that's after having it included in my tv package. If I'm still working from home, I'll probably pay it to avoid the adverts.0 -
It's a 50% increase in cost without a equivalent increase in value. It's not like there aren't other options to watch the cycling.1
-
What we are witnessing here is the transition of cycling from Eurosport to GCN.
There wasn't much point in switching this year, chances are there will be next year. The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

Fair enough if you already have it as the part of a TV package. I lost it when we removed a seemingly unrelated part of our Sky package so have been app only for the last few years (I use ES Player rather than GCN+) and it has felt like good value even though I missed out on one of the deals for this year. Discovery + had the full Olympic coverage I believe - doesn't feel like the right subscription for sport though.0

Eurosport player had the olympics as well. I should have renewed at £40, but I was greedy waiting for an offer at £20.Pross said:Fair enough if you already have it as the part of a TV package.
