Should Mark Cavendish swallow his pride and retire?

My feelings on Cav vary with the weather. But I admire and respect his passion for and dedication to the sport.0

With 158 pro wins he's now on the same number as Greipel0

Who is Mark Cavendish? Sounds like a young up and comer in the British East India Company.0

Lord Cavendish's lad. They're in the banana trade

A Cav anecdote courtesy of Brian Holm, from the massive crash that took out half the peloton on the last stage of Circuit de Sarthe :
Cav had ended up in a ditch. Brian Holm gets there and finds Cav shouting "I was fucking drowning!"
Holm looks over to the two foot deep ditch a little sceptically
Cav "I know it's not a fucking river!"
😂
Apparently though he'd had a rider or two on top of him, and genuinely had to fight to get his head above the water

I reckon he could go on till he is 38"If I was a 38 year old man, I definitely wouldn't be riding a bright yellow bike with Hello Kitty disc wheels, put it that way. What we're witnessing here is the world's most high profile mid-life crisis" Afx237vi Mon Jul 20, 2009 2:43 pm0

If Cav shines at the Giro will he be selected for the TDF?Pinno, מלך אידיוט וחרא מכונאי0

Pretty close for second place on most wins
1 MERCKX Eddy 283
2 VAN LOOY Rik 162
3 CIPOLLINI Mario 161
4 DE VLAEMINCK Roger 161
5 CAVENDISH Mark 160
6 KELLY Sean 159
7 GREIPEL André 158
1 -
Cafe Roubaix have it a bit different (list from 18 April 2021, updated numbers in bold):
286 – Eddy Merckx
166 – Mario Cipollini
164 – Roger De Vlaeminck, Rik Van Looy
160 – Mark Cavendish
158 – Andre Greipel
156 – Sean Kelly
153 – Alessandro Petacchi
151 – Francesco Moser
Either way, he's definitely in the top five now. Don't think anyone in the current peloton (except Pogačar, perhaps) can match his tally.0 -
I wonder how many countries he's wona race in“New York has the haircuts, London has the trousers, but Belfast has the reason!0
