Should Mark Cavendish swallow his pride and retire?

I prefer the EF rumour to that0

Why can't people carry on doing what they love - so long as someone will give them a job? As for these people being jokes, they get to race in the world's finest sporting parade whilst we get to type on Keyboards. Some of us are observant. Some simply ignorant.1

While this take may be correct, it is also very boring. 😛PTP Champion 2019, 2022 & 20230

Just realised I'd been taken in by a cheeky hoax0

Ummm... still no news unless I missed it.
It might be coming !1 -
He's a bit preoccupied currently, as noted in the transfer rumour thread.0

Watched an Only Connect episode and "Manx missile" was the 4th clue. Surely that's true recognition at last.1

Was that on the Christmas specials? I think I remember getting all of them.rick_chasey said:
But did you get all 3 follow up questions on cycling in the following University Challenge?bm5 said:Watched an Only Connect episode and "Manx missile" was the 4th clue. Surely that's true recognition at last.
(I got 2/3)
Edit: That might be different - that was start or finish towns for the 2022 TdF on a map.0 -
Just watched it https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m001h8ws/university-challenge-202223-episode-19 - got all 30

The jersey looks good (if a bit French with the blue at the bottom). He also looks quite trim for this stage of the season.0

I forgot he was British champ! Looks good1

Someone isn't happy. I really don't understand the fuss, it's a cycling jersey, not some holy relic.2 -
Is he likely to have a team to support him in breaking the record? I know Bol has been mentioned but it's probably going to need more than that. A quick look at their squad list suggests no real GC top 10 contender so there shouldn't be any conflict between stage wins and protecting a GC position but I've never heard of over half the squad.0

I think you might find he’s been national champion twice, team manager and is a commentator on Eurosport/GCN. I guess he might have been in a cycling club as well.MattFalle said:

Yeah marriage of convenience...makes sense. Lead out may be lacking but having a couple of guys drag him over the hills to get to sprint stages is what counts here . Got a feeling he may pull this off but lot of issues including being so keen he gets DQ'dPross said:Is he likely to have a team to support him in breaking the record? Let's hope they have a decent amount of preparation races and stages to get everything fine tuned.
Massive gamble, but I totally understand why he has done it, I genuinely did not think he would join them, but I guess it was the only viable offer on the table.
Have to say, seeing the pictures, he is looking remarkably trim - I know he is meant to be, beginning of the season and all that, but that hasn't always been the case in the past.
And with the uncertainty of which team, if any, he was going to join, it would have been understandable if his motivation and focus has dropped.
Looks to be completely the opposite though.
I hope he stays fit, can avoid crashes, has some good wins, and can get to the Tour full of confidence. I'd love to see him bag at least two stages.Felt F70 05 (Turbo)
