Yates A and S for the Tour.

That's a bit surprising. No Vuelta defence for Simon then.
It's only a bit of sport, Mun. Relax and enjoy the racing.

Bardet was riding the Galibier on Sunday practicing the descent. He never managed to catch me in the last km from the top, but to be fair to him, he’d been up one side, down the other and was on the home leg by the time I’d neared the top

The man is skin and bones!!!

Lotto Jumbo were also out on a recon.

Anyone going to be up the Galibier on stage 18?

I can't decide if I ride up there to watch proceedings go by or stay close to home (and a loo) and watch them come up the silly hill in Briançon.

I think that they think that Bernal is their man this year.

Swift and Stannard looking strong but no Tour fir them. Dowsett also though he faded in the RR. Should get more chance to shine this year.

Meanwhile, good to see Alaphilippe taking some time out from his lucrative gurning career to start an official Twitter account...

Is it conceivable that Cav will not be picked by DD?

I think so. He's not shown any signs of being up at the sharp end of sprints this year as far as I can recall, even allowing for his habit of sitting up if he thinks he doesn't have a chance. Someone will be along to correct me shortly though - I'm usually as accurate as Kirby...

The only thing that might save him is the lack of anyone else to get behind. At worst he's still a genuine 'Hall of Fame' rider so worth some publicity.

No Cav, but Valverde, as regular as clockwork, on the eve of the Tour...."My weight is 58 kilos, I've never been so skinny. I've gained a kilo since the Route de Sud, but I'm not going for GC. I will help Nairo and Landa."

    Sure, mate.

Quite right. When all the GC guys except for Valverde fall on the cobbles he'll win it easily

hands down an ineos win barring more crash catastrophes
I am still going out on a limb and saying no Ineos rider will win the race.

Breaking news: "Is Cav finished?" meme to miss 2019 tour.

The world of cycling was rocked this morning when it emerged that the perennial question of whether Mark Cavendish was finished has, in fact, finished. Fans had previously speculated that "Is Cav finished?" could have set an all time record for Tour wins but it now appears to be unlikely to overtake "Is Armstrong taking the p!ss or what?"

Dimension Data have requested that "Is Cav finished?" be given privacy at a difficult time.

It's 3 years since Mark Cavendish won a race outside of the Middle East
It's a year and five months since he won a race anywhere

More sensibly, I think the writing has been on the wall for a while. I think Cavendish has always suffered a little bit from not being as good as he was - he's always felt in decline despite having stayed at the top for a phenomenal length of time and it colours the way he's seen. Just that one tour where he came back to get four victories would seal a career for many sprinters.
