It looks like a really cool route, they've had the Grubers involved by the looks of it and the photos coming out have made it look very appealing. Best of luck to them I say

Time to bump this thread in readiness for the raft of post tour stuff that's lined up for August.

The shiny new Ionica race had it's first stage today. A lot of WT teams present, not that it stopped DQS from their season long dominance of...........well..........everything.
    Stage 1.
01 Alvaro Hodeg [Youth jersey] [Leader jersey] [Point jersey] Deceuninck - Quick Step 04:09:58
    02 Florian Sénéchal Deceuninck - Quick Step + 00
    03 Philippe Gilbert Deceuninck - Quick Step + 00

Some nice parcour coming up later in the week, including Tre Cime di lavaredo.......

It was raced in it's usual slot, two weeks ago. It was won by Ben Hermans.
The race is still available to watch, as it was shown live on the net.

They don't go up the Tre Cime road, the stage finishes at the Lago di Misurina at the foot of the road up to the Rifugio Auronzo.

Given that he claimed he should have been selected for the Tour, looks like DD made the right choice really...

I hope he retires at the end of the season. He's doing himself a disservice by carrying on.

Having seen the weather conditions in Italy, I'm surprised anyone finished.

Mark Padun putting his nightmare start to the season behind him lately.
Wins the Lago di Misurina/Tre Cime di Lavaredo stage and takes the overall lead of the race from the other Quintana and in form Ben Hermans.
Young James Knox finished just behind the lead 3 and is in 4th.
DQS maybe sent him to the wrong race?

As Andy says, if you think the weather in the Alps was bad.......

At least there's a lots and lots of ££££ on offer for very few, very flat kms.
Sort of a charity race for the women's peloton.

I actually meant the men's race.

The winner of what was pretty much a 2/3/4 crit last night, got the same prize money as third in the tour. Which has made me think... could "equality" (that's the modem use of the word, which is now taken as meaning the same, not equal) be a reason theres no women's tour de France? How could ASO justify paying out so much in prize money for a women's tour? They'd have to pay the same as they pay the men, otherwise a few loud mouths on twitter would be up in arms.

Watching it now and you are not wrong. How this is a WT race is beyond me. Now extremely short for a one day race, but still with only Box Hill to break things up. (done for Caleb Ewan though)

The TV coverage is abysmal. Not a single Moto covering the front of the bunch for the final ascent of Box Hill and this missing every attack. Amateur hour.
Napoleon, don't be jealous that I've been chatting online with babes all day. Besides, we both know that I'm training to be a cage fighter.

    Great minds and all that.

Beats me how this is a WT race as mentioned elsewhere.

This has had some reasonable editions in the past but this is absolutely dire. How can sprinters teams be allowed to literally block the road and prevent any attacks on the main 'climb'? Dowsett winning the 'King of the Mountains' sort of sums up the race really. Two poor WT races in one weekend.

They'll be track standing soon. De Wulf easing up trying to get caught and the peloton still determined to leave him out there.
