Robert Jenrick: Put simply, excessive, uncontrolled migration threatens to cannibalise the compassion of the British public.
It's not excessive and the vast majority of it is controlled.

Just to point out that whilst I wholeheartedly agree with you, "excessive" is a wholly subjective term, dependent on definition.rjsterry said:Robert Jenrick: Put simply, excessive, uncontrolled migration threatens to cannibalise the compassion of the British public.

I know of at least one person for whom one immigrant is one too many. The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

How can it be cannibalism if an immigrant isn't one of us. Surely that's predation?rjsterry said:Robert Jenrick: Put simply, excessive, uncontrolled migration threatens to cannibalise the compassion of the British public.

The 'uncontrolled' part is such a small part of the whole that claiming it is excessive while allowing several times that number through the visa system is what makes it bullsh*t.wallace_and_gromit said:

Here's voice of reason Jonathan Gullis calling out Braverman for unreasonable and inflammatory language.

I doubt he believes it, much more likely he was told “write something our readership wants to read”. We see regularly on here that ‘blame it on others’ is popular in those circles. I guess it’s like when your football team is doing badly but it is always due to bad referees.briantrumpet said:This headline is just too good not to share.

Not sure with Heath - he also told us how fantastic the Truss-Kwarteng 'fiscal event' was. I think he's probably nuts without any encouragement.0 -
Is Heath or Hannan the biggest nut job in respect of Brexit article for the Torygraph?0

Heath for sure. He's unhinged.wallace_and_gromit said:Is Heath or Hannan the biggest nut job in respect of Brexit article for the Torygraph?
Hannan is just a deeply and fundamentally duplicitous character.1 -

To be fair to Heath, he does have a great command of language and is very inventive. One can only admire the "Remainer institutional mind virus" concept. Almost as good as "Tofu-eating wokerati".rick_chasey said:Though I did learn a new word reading Heath: pusillanimity.
And he does slip in the concept of things only being "psychologically impossible" rather than legally impossible whilst in the EU, which is a neat trick.0 -

It's no surprise that he's so disliked on here, given how close to the bone some of those phrases probably are for some peoplewallace_and_gromit said:

Tbh, I think he's disliked because he's an ardent Brexiteer and blames everyone but the government - elected to "Get Brexit Done", "Oven Ready Deal" etc - for the lack of obvious Brexit benefits, rather than the fundamental flaws in the Brexit concept.Stevo_666 said:

Just seems odd that people can have such strong dislike of an individual journo that they don't even know personally and doesn't directly affect their lives, other than commenting on their choice of food.wallace_and_gromit said:

Fair point. But Heath projects a very definite personality as a deliberate tactic via his columns, and that personality is decidedly towards the ****head end of the scale.Stevo_666 said:

Not sure you or anyone else should take him seriously. I'd assumed he was published for comedic value. A sort of political Giles Coren.Stevo_666 said:

What with both Gullis and the Mail on Sunday's Dan Hodges saying Braverman's gone too far, do you think she might just have gone too far?

The second one seems to be on the verge or saying crossing the channel isn't a safe route, and that they should therefore be sent to Rwanda.
Presumably the consensus view is that they should use Ryanair, the channel tunnel or a reputable ferry operator.0
