How long have you suffered from Veganitis?

3 years, 7 months, 11 days, 3 hours and 26 minutes not that I'm counting.

Gave up eating the 4 legged beasts 20 years ago, but the winged and finned ones suffered for longer. :)
I think I could give up meat but not fish and I certainly couldn't give up dairy produce.
Everything in moderation I say - I have cut down on red meat consumption hugely and I do make more and more vegetarian meals.
Blimey, how much red meat were you eating before.

Basa aka Vietnamese river cobbler is a contentious fish due to the fact it’s irresponsibly farmed in some of the most polluted rivers in Asia. Not that it means much, but the internet is rife with negative info about it. Enjoy :)
Oh thanks [insert rolling eyes icon].

We didn't eat much red meat 'before'.

According to the Lidl website, their Basa fish is farmed.

Yes, but it’s where (Mekong) and how it’s farmed that is the problem. It’s not for me to say whether it is safe or not, but there are concerns about toxins, heavy metals and antibiotic use.
Saying that, most oily fish contain heavy metals.

    From NHS:
How much oily fish should I eat?

We should eat at least 1 portion (around 140g when cooked) of oily fish a week.
Oily fish usually have higher levels of pollutants than other types of seafood. For this reason, there are maximum recommendations for the number of portions some groups should be eating each week.

The following people should eat no more than 2 portions of oily fish a week:
    Girls

Women who are planning a pregnancy or may have a child one day.

    Pregnant and breastfeeding women.

This is because pollutants found in oily fish may build up in the body and affect the future development of a baby in the womb.

Okay. But is there any fish that is environmentally friendly? I'm getting bored of Pollack.
As far as oily fish is concerned, we eat a portion per week.

The rest; cod liver oil capsules

..and now you're going to tell me that's off the menu too for some reason.

Stick to bacon, sounds like a safer option.

    Chicken Biryani with garlic Naan.

That's a first and the Balti paste to make it; another first. Extra ordinary number of different spices. Hard to know on the first attempt how much of each to use. Though it has Fenugreek, mustard seeds, chilli, curry powder so I went easy and have natural yoghurt, failing that; beer, failing that; fire extinguisher. Don't like too hot. You know - hot but not hot hot and very spicy is good.

    Where's that damn @beansnikpoh bloke?

Lamb Kofta. Minced lamb, mixed with grated onion, parsley, garlic, cumin, cinnamon, chilli, paprika, oregano. Served in pitta with rocket, onion & tomato with homemade garlic sauce.

A bit low on enthusiasm today, but my treat was penne with a homemade garlicky tomato sauce. A standard affair but tasty enough. Next a chilled San Miguel. Mmm

Oh sh*t (no pun intended). It's not fun. Don't envy you. Pop some anti D pills. Sometimes they cure it very quickly.
Do you think you picked it up from abroad?

Not the best prep. for your new job. Starting Monday?

PS Great way to loose weight

Vegan* Mexican burrito(ish) wraps. * No sneering at the back!

    Cooking time 7min.
Prep (with the skills of a sushi chef) 7mins.
Remove chef's hat and replace with halo 1min.

    Instruction:

Chop, slice etc. Hob level 9!! Fry all pretend meaty ingredients in a heavy based pan till nicely browned.
Add spices from a great height, tv chef style.
Bang head on sharp corner of extractor fan (optional and probably not advised).
Place beer and cleaver on chopping board for photoshoot.
Sit back and wait for pinno/seano/stevo to exact their revenge for my previous comments.

I’d happily eat that. You’ve converted me for the day. What is the vegan equivalent of sour cream?

Not sure why Stevo comes in here tbh. Don’t think he can boil an egg.

I think you can buy a replacement??
Mine was garlic mayo. Hellmans vegan mayo is as good as the real thing, if I remember correctly. Heinz is good, but not as good.
Sour cream (real) is better still though.

@masjer Shift the bloody extractor. I did.
When I was doing PPP, I got the kitchen with half price fitting offer and seen as I was so busy after the plasterers had been (there's nothing to stop you then), it was ano brainer.
I said that the one I ordered lit up around the rim of the glass and they said that this was the one that was supplied...
It was low; too low and I got fed up of banging my head so I shifted it up. Why they put it there, I do not know.
When I moved it, I noticed the plug for the edge light and it wasn't plugged in! W@nkers. Ta da! - lit edge.
