    Was that it?

Not sure why/if people were expecting something more. Essentially every day is the same.some riders start 100 yards further back than those behind the comms car. The gaps would have to have been much much bigger and even then...

Wonder how much they paid a management consultancy to come up with that idea? Genius.

Bit early to call this tour crap when the gc is far from over, especially compared to previous years where froome had a huge gap at this point and looked completely insurmountable. Look at what happened in the giro late on

I think they needed to make a time start gap in there - either that or push the groups further apart ... like by a km or two!
  • Bit crap for sure, but maybe would make more sense starting every stage like that. It was underwhelming but maybe less underwhelming than a normal roll out for people that have turned out for the depart.

Maybe they should have put everyone who's won the combative rider award (and is still in the race) on the front...

Seems a lot more Giant near the front than Sky at the moment but it could be my eyes as widescreen doesn’t appear to have reached France yet!
  • 10 second bonus 100m after the start?

Rowe on the front as per usual. Boy, it's really shaken things up.

In defence of the start, it's better than a 10km neutral zone

Shhhhh. I'm hoping he punctures and drops back before Rich gets here, otherwise he's going to be unbearable (sorry Luke).

Start them on time gaps based on 10% of their GC gaps.

So, the latern rouge gets to start 20 minutes after the maillot jeune, with a 35 minute hors delay for the stage....
    Interesting. 8)

yeah but measured from their start time...ie not the winners start time.
    So a time trial then?

It needs the riders to make the racing but all those who could animate the race have allowed themselves to be subservient to Sky

I say we just start each team from their individual hotel car parks, that'd bloody well shake things up.

FDJ would have been allocated a hotel 3km from the finish line and Sky would be in a travel lodge in Cornwall though.

Demare would probably still require a tow from a team car to make the time cut tho to be fair.
