Moto was really struggling to stay with Alaphillipe + Bora rider on the way down then - At one point was just showing an empty road

It's an unusual tactic. Let a large group of decent climbers go, so no other team has any incentive to chase.

I think they are (certainly in Valverde's case) letting the "1" man from the old 1-2 tactic just disappear for a bit. Rather than drive it to bring him back. They know that if they get to the bottom of the alpe without too much of a deficit, no one in the bunch will be able to ride off and no one up the read will have enough in the tank to help when they are caught from behind

    Groundhog day for Movistar.
Maybe *this* time putting Valverde up the road for Sky to chase will work

If they arrive with a 3 min lead in a group of 23, do you think they will catch Kruijswijk?

I'm so torn, want to go for my first "proper" ride since Sunday, but I've never watched a decent amount of an Alpe D'Huez stage live. Guess I could go out and be back for ~1530 BST to watch the full final climb, or simply go out after the race.

    Decisions, decisions...

At least that improves the aesthetics of the peloton, from a team kit perspective...

I like them too, but I like the sunnies too which everyone else seems to hate.
