Kruisjwiwiijijik and Zakarinin the break as well.

They've got about 40" but will be controlled pretty heavily.

Sky look like they've got 7 riders - so one of Rowe or Poels must have got back up.

Rowe's hanging on the back. He is number 7 right?

Lawson Craddock watch - he's moved off his customary position, albeit not too much further up.

As I write that he slips back again. Two riders shepherding him through as well. One thing he's allegedly struggling with is the sheer mentality of working within the bunch after a whole week of having lots of braking space etc, so he may be trying to get refamiliarised with being deeper in the bunch.

Having two riders with him suggests that EDFS-SaleMustEndNow at least are expecting an autobus to form PDQ and are just hanging out. Or they have realised that the LR is pretty much their only competition left, of course.

He's in a tricky position, politically. He's taken a load of help from the team to hang in there, always claiming he's not interested in personal glory, but in being able to heal up and help later. Now there's nobody left for him to help his personal ambitions may be exposed. Will the team ride for him at the expense of their own stage chances?

Have they given up on Pierre Rolland?

If they ask him to ride for Craddock then you'll have your answer! Until then I suspect he'll be allowed to do his own thing at the front.

Sort of a reverse Steve Cummings, if you like.

and as we talk, Rolland attacks!

Too many cooks in that front group.
Rolland doing his best to be head chef.

Plenty getting spat while Sagan still manages to sit on the back of the bunch. The more I think of his achievements, the more mindblowing it is that he can be this consistent. And he's only 28 despite having been around forever

that dutch bunch of hooligans, I'm not surprised they've had to ship their own police in. The firebrigade to put out flares would be helpful too
My dad in law is there today. I think he's going to throw his colostomy bag at Froome.

I missed the memo on that! Thanks for the info.

We are on so-called "Irish Standard Time" here, apparently. They didn't bloody tell me about that either. The world is gone mad, I tells ya! :D

    Morning/afternoon/evening, All,

The wife is out at her art course, number 1 son is on his laptop, downloading porn or hacking into somewhere, I've done loads of work today, I have a bottle of Gweilo IPA and a Fry's peppermint cream bar - couldn't get more perfect. Hoping for a smashing stage. Have I missed anything important?

Not going that fast. The race is on or around the mid schedule.
Kruijswijk appears to be a bit of an anchor in a bloated breakaway.

The scheduled finish is also late, so lookin at around 16-50 BST, or even later.

How have Kruijswijk, Valverde and Zakarin been allowed in a break of 26 riders?

it's almost a snub - 'we don't think you've a hope in hell of winning overall, off you go'....

more likely - Sky can't chase everything all day, best just to hold the gap for now.

They're being held on a very short lead, Sky don't want to burn their doms though for 3 ultimately 3rd tier contenders

It's an unusual tactic. Let a large group of decent climbers go, so no other team has any incentive to chase.
