well at least this year its a real race"If I was a 38 year old man, I definitely wouldn't be riding a bright yellow bike with Hello Kitty disc wheels, put it that way. What we're witnessing here is the world's most high profile mid-life crisis" Afx237vi Mon Jul 20, 2009 2:43 pm0

Vuelta head to head with S Yates?....
and Froome
lol
There were mutterings on the ITV podcast that Froome might well do the Vuelta. Millar suggested that it's harder to keep/gain race fitness as you get older, so going from GT to GT isn't so silly. Not sure if that stacks up in reality, but it's interesting that there's already talk of Froome going for it.
I wasn't really loling because I thought he wouldn't do it, more the thought of him basically just winning everything for ever more! 5 GTs in a row.......0 -

Cheers, I'll catch the Madeleine then crack on with my work before the finale.0

A bit of extra security on the Alpe today apparently. Dutch corner has had soe sort of limit placed on how many people can be there, Dutch police are present there, and there are barriers further down the mountain than before.Warning No formatter is installed for the format0

Good. Decreases the odds of riders being impeded from racing (or worse).0

This was always going to be crunch day if there were to be any Froome or Sky related shenanigans. Fingers crossed that the fighting stays of the athletic type.0

It will all be ok.
People on the internet are all talk and no action.
Sky comfort blanket to suffocate the peloton again.0 -
that dutch bunch of hooligans, I'm not surprised they've had to ship their own police in. The firebrigade to put out flares would be helpful too0

Lawson Craddock watch - he's moved off his customary position, albeit not too much further up.
As I write that he slips back again. Two riders shepherding him through as well. One thing he's allegedly struggling with is the sheer mentality of working within the bunch after a whole week of having lots of braking space etc, so he may be trying to get refamiliarised with being deeper in the bunch.
Having two riders with him suggests that EDFS-SaleMustEndNow at least are expecting an autobus to form PDQ and are just hanging out. Or they have realised that the LR is pretty much their only competition left, of course.0 -

He's in a tricky position, politically. He's taken a load of help from the team to hang in there, always claiming he's not interested in personal glory, but in being able to heal up and help later. Now there's nobody left for him to help his personal ambitions may be exposed. Will the team ride for him at the expense of their own stage chances?Warning No formatter is installed for the format0 -

If they ask him to ride for Craddock then you'll have your answer! Until then I suspect he'll be allowed to do his own thing at the front.
Sort of a reverse Steve Cummings, if you like.0 -

On this stage one might be glad that England kickball team did not beat France in the finals with a controversial decision. Sky train would need protection Mad Max style0
