On the upside, Porte’s probably favourite for the Vuelta now.

The five bridgees have joined the lead break. Now ten. EDIT: THREE not four of them are Direct Energie. Sunweb have a guy up the road for Dumoulin.

Tom's had a puncture and changed wheel. They're on discs. Rolf not impressed.

Oh, and he's drafting the Sunweb mini again.

There are also two riders on a chasse patate - halfway between the break and peloton.
Sit up, lads, you've missed the boat.

Yay! I “accidentally “ found a bottle of cava in the fridge about an hour ago. Got the day off to a great start. In the spirit of the region, now having some saisons (in the sun).
Good shout, sadly I've not got any saisons in.

The only beers I've got in are a couple of Swedish porters leftover from the Sweden game the other week (any excuse!)

I'm going to wait a couple of hours I think, need to pace myself as there is the world cup final to think about too...

Claeys and van Keirsbulk, both good motors, you'd think normally they'd do it but that break is pretty heavyweight.

    Break is:

    Damien Gaudin, Direct Energie
    Thomas De Gendt, Lotto Soudal
    Antwan Tolhoek, LottoNL-Jumbo
    Jérôme Cousin, Direct Energie
Omar Fraile Matarranza, Astana Pro Team
Reinardt Janse Van Rensburg, Dimension Data
    Chad Haga, Team Sunweb
    Olivier Le Gac, Groupama-FDJ
    Nicolas Edet, Cofidis, Solutions Credits
    Lilian Calmejane, Direct Energie

So 3 Direct Energie in there.

Dan Martin in a state, right at the back of the bunch.

Flashes the thumbs up but then also calls for the team car, needs his wound redressing

    Not an ideal distraction today

TV graphics would be improved with a timer counting down to the next cobble section.

Thats a good break to be in but lot of variation in size and power !

Mixture of riders who want to do well and riders who want to avoid riding the cobbles in the peloton.

I thought it was broadly equivalent to being on a wild goose chase or otherwise being on a fool's errand

Agree about pacing. No point in a senseless breakaway today.

That peloton doesn't look that big.

5km or so until the cobbles.

    Popcorn at the ready :D

The breakaway is just making the turnoff.

So about 3 minutes until the peloton reaches it.

Two star puncture already. Skys wheels will be useful.
